As a first-time U-Haul customer, I had a very smooth experience renting a van for several hours from this location. I understand how things can go wrong when renting a transportation vehicle - accidental damage like dents and scratches can happen and that may produce additional cost, hence frustration. That's why I did my best to preserve the vehicle in the shape I got it. Didn't have any problems.
I rented a truck in tiverton and returned it in East Providence the truck worked out great. I picked the truck up with three quarters of a tank of gas. I filled it up just before returning it with a little bit more gas than when I rented it. The clerk at the East Providence location told me that it was almost full and had to pay $17 additional. When I explained it had more gas in it than when I picked it up. He said to me did you take a picture because you always have to take a picture of the gas gauge. Basically a store employee is warning me that I have to protect myself against them from ripping me off, by taking a photo of the gas gauge.
Good people - my reservation was ready when I showed up. I had an issue with my trailer and they fixed it promptly and issued me a $200 refund immediately.
The guys were very pleased,both the one who attended me and the one who received the trailer, very excellent service. I will definitely rent here again
Con-men! This business location is run by the mob and they will F you over. This is the worst branch of U-haul I have ever experienced. I booked a one way truck a month in advance for a move 1.5 hours away. They call me the day before I move to tell me that they have no 1 way Trucks!!!! Completely unprofessional. Their “solution” was $50 off and I had to bring the truck back to the original location. They have one job and they failed. Complete incompetence!!!
RENTERS BEWARE! I've been dealing with this for over a year!! When I dropped off a UHAUL rental van on 8-17-21 between 8:18 pm and 8:31 pm. I checked the van in with UHaul's mobile app where it required me to take extensive photos of all sides of the van. Not only was there no collision damage, but there weren't any dents or scratches. 42 days after I dropped the rental van off, I received an estimate for $2072.32 in collision damage to the van! The estimate didn't include the license plate number that it was referring to and it showed no proof of damage or that this work was completed. If this much damage ocurred to the van, I don't know why we weren't notified when the van was physically checked in the next morning, Why wasn't a police report filed if someone vandalized a van on their property? Why wasn't a property claim filed since it was on their property and wasn't in our possession? Then here is the other sketchy scammy thing that happened, UHAUL's insurance stated that they had no photos of the damage! How can a collision claim be filed without proof of loss?? Now UHaul's insurance has sent this to a collection agency who is harrassing us. I have disputed this with the SIU of UHaul, the collection agency, U-Haul headquarters, UHaul's insurance company, and the manager and owner of this U-Haul location. THIS IS A CRAZY NIGHTMARE!! Of course, I don't recommend renting from this location!!
Stephen Cabrera, the “manager” does not know the first the about trailers. Not only is he very rude and disrespectful, but he refused to rent me a trailer on my move out date due to me having a “modified hitch.” My hitch is very much not modified, and have had no issue renting from countless other u-haul locations in the past. Thanks for nothing. Edit: Forgot to mention, when I called back and told them I could come back and grab the trailer in a completely different newer truck, Stephen refused to rent it to me because I “offended him” by asking what was wrong with my hitch. Stephen was overall very rude and unprofessional. He also tried to put me on the u-haul blacklist, which did not last very long as i’ve been a long time customer with no issues at all until I came to this location.
This location is excellent! The manager Stephen made my ENTIRE moving experience so smooth. From purchasing boxes, to helping arrange a Ubox shipment across the country, everything felt easy. Great place!
The worst service, incompetent, not willing to help and blaming customers. I would advice everyone to stay away from this location. They will take your money and will not deliver, and if you challenge them, they say sorry, pay some more. And I wish I looked at the reviews of this place.
Worst U Haul ever! I will stick with locations in Warren RI. Slick con men at this East providence location! Corporate will be notified!!
