I am here now in the ED waiting room waiting for my sister to get in a room. Sitting here, the nurses at the check in desk are LAUGHING at patients with drinking problems. One said "Get a safer hobby". The other said "cirrhosis, who even does that"! They all laughed and kept talking. All right here where the waiting room can hear. How despicable. I'll be putting in a formal complaint as well. Was just disgusted and wanted to share.
Best ER I have ever been to. Wait times are always short, the staff is always exceptionally kind, caring and compassionate. The facility is modern and nice. Dr. Murphy I believe she’s in her residency especially, went above and beyond. She was incredibly comforting and made me feel as though a friend was here with me, as I got some very sad news and had to come here alone due to my husband being at work in Colorado Springs.
I was taken here by ambulance after I was a victim of a hit and run. A resident doctoramazing kind person and his boss rushed, careless doctor examined me for five minutes and then they both left the room. They took blood for bloodwork. A nurse came back 5 to 10 minutes later and gave me discharge paperwork which had no diagnosis and instructions to return if my symptoms got worse. I was however given a muscle relaxer. My symptoms got worse when the doctor left the room and the nurse saw me throwing up, unable to open my eyes, and extremely confused and weak… I was still discharged to the surprise of my husband, the police officer taking out statement and mine. Fast forward to today, I just got a call from the patient liaison which is actually more like a hospital liaison, and she started arguing with me saying that I received amazing care, and that I was discharged with a muscle relaxer, and with instructions to come back if my symptoms got worse, she asked in a mocking manner if I remembered that, after I told her there were things I didn’t remember -like them taking blood for blood work-. I felt and feel like I was nothing to the doctors or the hospital. I went to another emergency room after I left University Hospital only to find a huge wait list which was the point where I decided to go home after taking 1000 mg of Tylenol. I was still throwing up at home , I couldn’t tolerate noise or light for the next two weeks. It is extremely disheartening that the hospital discharged me with no word or diagnosis of a concussion or what to do after the concussion symptoms settled in. My PCP got me in the next morning and she diagnosed me with a concussion and gave me the correct instructions to follow to make myself be more comfortable. Finally, to put the cherry on top of this cake. My insurance just got the bill from university hospital for $5000. $5000 for a five minute examination with no diagnosis and no instructions of what to do also while still in the hospital and throwing up and my symptoms worsening while I was in there, they discharged me. I told the patient liaison who just called me, that I needed to end the call because I did not feel like fighting with someone who was supposed to help me understand why I got the treatment that I got and why I got the bill that I got. Extremely bad manners, extreme, lack of care, and extreme billing is all that I am walking away with after being at University Hospital. I will not recommend this hospital to anyone, do not expect any kind of respect or growth mentality coming from them either.
Please get better eye specialists in the ER and eye examroom. The doctor I saw was ok, but didn't really explain things, and felt like she really didn't know some things about the treatment my regular eye doctor had done earlier in the. My doctor placed a skingraph on my eye with a contact bandaid of sorts, due to a cornial abrasion. When I explained this to her, she looked at like she never heard of this treatment before, and like she wasn't too sure how to help me. I am sure she is knolagable in many things, but i feel there could've been better overall treatment for the eyepain I was having. That been said, everyone was super nice and prompt. The longest time I waited while at the ER was when I was waiting for the eye doctor to come to the exam room. Also, the eye examroom feels like you are in a closet, super small space. I do appreciate and thank everyone for the care given, just because there can be changes made doesn't mean the care given was bad. So Thank you all.
This is an amazing hospital that has literally saved my life and they are always so caring. This is the only hospital I like to go to cause there is no discrimination. I have tattoos on my face the whole 9 and never once have I been treated badly like I have encountered at many hospitals. Not here. I get treated like the human I am.
BEST ER PROCESS EVER! I had to be seen in the emergency room today and I was so hesitant on going in because emergency rooms are known to just drag out and be such a waste if you were not dying. I brought snacks, water, my laptop, and I was not able to drink eat or use my laptop because they got me in and I did my imaging, did my labs, did my regular testing and they figured out what was wrong. The whole team was nice and informative and extra willing to help me with this issue. They also put a referral in so i can be seen here by an OB/GYN doctor. This was the best experience I’ve ever had going to an emergency room. Steps: 1. Go through security 9:40am 2. Check-in 3. Did vitals 4. Intake 5. Went to a room 6. Blood withdraw and ruin collection 7. Ultrasound 8. Doctor comes in and fully explains their findings 9. Place a referral for a follow-up 10. Check out 12:00 Keep up the great work UC health!!
Horrible experience. I went to the er on the advice of Kaiser. I was having severe jaw pain and swelling due to a dental mistake. The er refused to even examine me. They assumed I was drug seeking and turned me away. The hospital is under construction. It was like a third world country in there. They were rude and racist. I better not get a bill from you people.
I was in Denver for the weekend and got extremely I’ll with food poisoning. I have never been so sick. I am in health care myself and I have seen how scary things can be from both sides of health care delivery. I was terrified to say the least. The staff, nurses and doctors at UCHealth were very kind & compassionate. They were informative, asked all the right questions and made sure both my husband and myself understood what was going on, what to watch out for and when to call if things got worse again. I was highly impressed. They did all of this without knowing I am a doctor too. I would feel very confident in recommending them to anyone, because they did such a great job for a total stranger from out of town. I cannot praise them enough! Thank you for making a terrifying experience the best it could possibly be.
I was here for a kidney infection that had turned pretty nasty very quickly, and they had me in and out very quickly. The nurses and doctor were all very accommodating and understanding of my situation. I wish that the doctor had given me a bit more advice for what to do when I get home other than antibiotics + water obviously because I do work a full time job, but that was my only real concern.
Sit back, relax, and speak up if truly necessary. Show a little empathy for their situation. Remember, the staff may perform what we, the patients, may consider miracles; they are merely human also. Be thankful for the dedication and professionalism they exude in abundance. And let them know it.
