OUR INSTRUCTORS:
Black Belts,Joe Shartrand (8th degress) and Sue Uliasz (6th degree) conduct classes ranging in level from beginner to expert.They follow the teachings of Master Kanbun Uechi established in 1940 in Okinawa, Japan.Self-control discipline and defense are stressed along with the exercises and katas necessary to master the form. Classes are offered in wide variety of days and times.
UEICHI-RYU:
Ueichi-Ryu karate is a form of Chinese temple fighting that emphasizes the interwoven movements of the tiger,crane and dragon. It is specialized method of defense that concentrates on the use of the single knuckle punch, spear hand, toe kick and circular block.
KARATE:
Not only is the art of karate a incredible effective means of self-defense, but it is also an intense full-body excersize; a philosophy of life; and for millions people around the world, an exciting competitive sport. The word KARATE means "empty hand". It is an art with a long and noble history. The many different ways that it is practiced today are the result of hundreds of years of development and study. Karate practice can produce a superb level of total physical fitness. Not only that,but karate teaches mental discipline, emotional self controlm and, most important how to harness ki, lifes vital force. Karates code of conduct provides framework to faced lifes many challenges. Additionally, its strcuture is great for kids, giving them health goals, an outlet for excess energy, and tools for developing self-discipline.
