I’ve seen people trashing this gym for military folks. I’m here to say that’s bs. I’m a military member who has used this gym off and on as I needed as a military member since 2017. When I needed to cancel they canceled me immediately. I’ve had some great training and great experiences here. Don’t listen to people who probably can’t handle the pressure of an MMA gym. This a great gym for the price. Come join the team.
After going to this gym for 2+ years, I think I can offer a very honest review. Most of the people who go to this gym are amazing. They are like one big family and will look out for your kid and other kids. I appreciate the relaxed atmosphere of this gym, as well. There aren't 100 rules for what you can and can't do, it's more like just be safe and don't do anything stupid. Coach Nelson is also an amazing kickboxing coach. He really knows how to motivate the kids and bring out the best in them. Half that gym is there for training under Nelson "The Tyrant" Lebron. However, they could use a few more exercise machines, and some of the changes they made, like getting rid of a lot of the bags, is something I wish they wouldn't have done.
Awful, not military friendly when i comes to canceling membership, they require you in person or a certified mail which anyone in the Navy can understand how hard it is to do either of them when your in the middle of the ocean. I have drove a half hour on 5 different occasion to cancel this leech of a membership and they have been close without any update of hours or anything. One time I came and they were in the middle of throwing a birthday party, so I sat around for an hour and no one ever came to the desk. Im going to have to create a whole new checking account to get rid of this charge that wont quit coming out no matter how hard I try.
Dan was a great help with my membership transfer. The gym is very family oriented, but have great equipment for solo workouts and training. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends and family.
A wonderful place! Funny to hear me say that about a gym but it is! : I am more familiar with the Alexandria City one which is geared towards a more grown up crowd. Norfolk has everything! Walking in for the first time, I was wonderfully surprised by the 40 something kids training and most of all falling disciplined in organized lines at direction of a couple of coaches. I realized that for some of these kids, the coaches they have here will make a life long impact and may be the closest to family than everything else the kids will ever experience. It was humbling. Spacious, well maintained, well equipped, well aired out! Good classes. Excellent Muai Tai, Boxing. One little disappointment, especially as I drove from Suffolk every other day to get to it, was that the advertise boxing class was changed at the discretion of the coach, based on the attendees to other type of training. A good place to be! :
