A smile crosses my face every time I cross the threshold at this wonderful post office. Always kind. Always friendly. Always proactive. For almost 10 years, I’ve had smooth transactions at this location. There’s a reason why I live in Blue Lakes and still commute to Ukiah to ship from here – they’re that reliable, even for my most precious and valuable packages. The experience has always been overwhelmingly positive. Every postal worker I've interacted with here has been nice and/or efficient. My favorite employee is the postmaster, Steve. He may come off as a bit firm or intense with his directions, but he has a terrific sense of humor and gets the job done. Sometimes, I go out of my way to go to his station just because seeing Steve brightens my day. Every time I have ever visited this location, I’ve always observed Steve interacting with other customers - consistently you will hear him greet them by their name, inquiring about one's day, family, or suggesting the best shipping options. Steve truly is a shining example of productivity and the epitome of composure. He’s incredibly patient, to the point that he didn't even blink when an irate customer shouted expletives at him for reasons beyond his control. I’ve seen him handle some of the most horrific, short-fused, verbally abusive, and absolutely crude people. I've witnessed him navigate, diffuse situations, and take control of really tense interactions with class, integrity, and strength – I even gave him the nickname “George Clooney.” I can vividly remember how he sat down with a confused elderly couple, explaining and repeating their situation at least five different ways so they could better understand there were solutions to their issues. Or the time he displayed unbelievable patience and compassion as he helped a sweet Grandma struggling to choose between the daffodils or the daisies commemorative postage stamps as she meticulously polished her spectacles…how many people do you know would take the effort and time to do this? Even during busy hours, Steve will do his best to keep the line moving and making every transaction as quick as possible without rushing or being rude. Even when he looks stressed or burnt out, it's never affected his job performance or his politeness. Customers need to realize that just because the post office closes at 5:30, does not mean that the employees stop working. Also, these employees are not indentured servants. Please don’t hunt down the overburdened employee to take your aggravation and frustrations out on. The post office is not the place for entitled, adult-babies to cry about "inadequate service" when you have been waiting for literally three minutes. Some customers appear to have forgotten their manners, especially with those whose job it is to assist them. Please take responsibility for the energy you bring into this space...your behaviors matter. Take a deep breath, watch a couple of tiktoks, check your email, do anything other than use these employees as your personal punching bags. Yes, the lines are often long the post office has been chronically understaffed and overworked for years but this post office is like a revolving door, moving customers in and out at a great pace. We need to be compassionate and empathetic to our essential workers. When reading negative reviews, remember that more furious people write reviews than contented customers. All things considered this location provides among the most pleasant post office experiences one can expect. This place and its employees should be an example to all other USPS locations.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I hate when USPS lies and says they attempted to deliver my package at 10:30pm, but said they couldn’t because I wasn’t home. First of all, I have cameras around my home and no one attempted to deliver my stuff. Now I am forced to go pick it up when I pay money for it to get delivered to my door. I honestly hate that USPS workers are such lazy liars. They should either do their job or quit.
No wait to drop off my parcel in the parcel box. There was a short line to see a clerk, two people waiting, and there was two clerks working. It was 9:30 am on a Wednesday morning.
Kevin is the best Mail carrier. What a delight he is. Had bad experience during covid with female mail carrier that was delivering empty open packages 4 empty Kevin is 10 out of 10 though . The employees at annex nice also .
I went in there to get passports for my kids I had an appointment at 1:15 I arrived at 12:50 the lady at front asked where my kids I told her my husband was on his way with our kids said replayed with an attitude well he better be here before 1:15 And i said he will as I was walking to the door to get my phone that I had left in my car she told me that if I had filled out the paper works I said no that I will go right now and she told me you know just reschedule because you don’t have time to fill out the application and I can’t be doing my part of the job while you filling out the rest. I was walk back in there to grab the application her and her co worker was making fun of me because I didn’t have the application ready.. I Arrived 25 minutes early
The United States postal service in Ukiah is the most greatest place to do your mail or your packages any time of the year 24/7 except on holidays and weekends it will be open it's really a great post office and the people in their work so hard to please and serve the people that come in like you and I it's really a great post office I'll have pictures later. Your Good to go.
Good place just don’t get the bitter dry old man that works at the from desk! Always has a stink face and a nasty attitude! Why work in customer service if you a nasty dry bitter attitude all time ? Make sure to go with the girl!
The men and women at our post office do a good job. What makes the Ukiah Post Office unique is the personable customer service. They are kind to everyone and keep the line moving along.
Really bad attention from Steve. He doesn’t deserve work in there
I had a horrible experience today at the orchard post office. I order a pair of shoes and it said my delivery was delivered on Saturday August 27. Iwas at work and unable to immediately go check the mail. I work late so I waited till Sunday morning to check the mail eager to try my new shoes and the package wasn't there. Because it was Sunday I had to wait until Monday today to figure out why I didn't receive my package. so I went into the post office and politely asked what had happened. The man at the front desk was extremely rude he was very short with me and acted as if he didn't want to help. So he went in the back and asked the mail carrier that delievered the package to come talk to me. The mail carrier was extremely rude as well and told me he put my package on top of the mail boxes and that it was no longer their responsibility. I asked him why he would just set it on top of the mailbox and feel like that would be ok. And he told me that the Business I get my mail sent to was responsible for putting the mail in each mailbox and delivering the packages to our house. Only problem was the Business was close so someone came up and stole my package. They were unsympathetic That I had been stole from and it was their fault. They basically told me to kick rocks because there was nothing they could do and once it was delivered it was no longer their responsibility to make sure I received my package safely. I spoke to a manager as well and she was unhelpful as well.
