Very local rustic Bar/Tavern. The only permanent place in town that serves food. Counter seating and tables - an adjacent room with additional seating. Bathrooms on the small side. Somewhat of a limited menu. Photos of menu as of May 2023. My wife and I both enjoyed our meals. WiFi beyond excellent. Staff very friendly. Two kinds of bottled beer available- a few draft and the rest are canned. Mon, Tue and Wednesday their closed. Thursday - Sunday 11:am to when ever they close.
My wife and I stopped here for a bite after having heard about it from my parents. We drove from umatilla to have lunch and it was well worth it. After having spoken with the owners and what they have to do in order to serve meals there, I was quite surprised they were still open! A lot of money, a lot of hassle, and a lot of travel involved in putting out such good meals. We will go back for sure! Kudos to the owners for your stick-to-ativeness
I stopped here on my way to Walla Walla Wa in June 2022. The service was excellent and so was the food. Waitress was fast and attentive. Anyone complaining must have brought their bad attitude in with them.. need I say Californians? Yep, the blight of civilization. I will stop here anytime I’m passing through and they’re open.
I stopped here for breakfast on my ride to Hells Canyon. The food and service was great, with very friendly staff! I ordered eggs over easy and was perfect. They use a nice light oil of some kind for the hash browns and was great also. Not swimming in grease like I had ran into before. The staff told me about their elk burger so I had to stop on my way back for one. The owner had already closed the grill so was only deep fried food available, but she was nice and made me the burger anyways. Now that is some great service!! Thank you!! The burger was awesome and cooked exactly as ordered. I had the onion rings with it and they have to be homemade as I have never had better! The locals and staff was very friendly to a biker and I had a nice time visiting with everyone. I will definitely stop here again to eat!!
Fantastically bad service. Took over 2 and a half hours to get 3 burgers. Waitress was actively avoiding us the entire time. Food came out 1 burger at a time over a 90 minute period. If your out here hunting, don't bother with ukiah, go to heppner.
Very good & friendly service! Burgers, fries, and salad were outstanding!! I will make a special trip to eat there again. Thank you!
Authentic Oregon. Had chicken fryed steak breakfast.
I don't normally do this: I have thought about this burger for over a year and finally came back to leave this review. I consider myself a foodie and I don't know why but this damn burger is the best burger I have had in decades. Two if we are counting. I don't know why it was so damn good. I plan to come back to town just for the damn burger.
This place is great. It’s exactly what you would expect in a town like this. Service was fun and sassy. The prime rib was great, jo-jos were a little dry but very good. The locals were super friendly.
While traveling through Ukiah, we stopped at The Thicket for lunch. The burgers and fries were great. The portions were generous and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the meal and would recommend.
