Genuinely the worst people on the planet to deal with. Super unfair and frustrating, ticketed me 3 times in 2 weeks for parking at my job, but won't let me pay a meter for longer than 2 hours on my 7 hour shift. Completely ridiculous.
They gouge the prices of the limited parking spots that do exist and then ticket everyone else. You could probably get into a pileup and the parking enforcement would still ticket you. What a waste of taxpayer money.
Don't even try to appeal. I got a $75 ticket for leaving my car for less than 10 minutes. Tried to appeal under "only parked for a short time"- was denied and told that the appeal options don't actually apply to most lots and I was never going to get appealed. And if you don't pay there stupidly high ticket cost they can put a hold on your class registration.
Paid over $300 for a lot that is a 10 minute uphill walk from my dorm. UMass Parking Services doesn't mention, until after receiving the sticker in the mail, that the lot happens to be closed for ALL football games and major events like the Move In days. I now have no permitted place to park on campus except for the "other parking options" that happen to be metered parking. Thanks UMass Parking Services!
I wasn't able to resolve an issue I had previously, but I came back today and was helped by a woman named Abby. She did a wonderful job, and went above and beyond to help me. She was able to promptly assess, and resolve my issue. She has excellent communication and customer service skills. She definitely deserves a raise! Made my entire experience pull a 180.
UMass Parking is very disrespectful and will not listen to reason. Even if you're in the right, they will deny it and charge you anyway.
Make you pay 100’s of dollars for a parking permit then when your lot is full and you have to park somewhere else, you have to pay $100’s in fees again. You can appeal these fees online but only if they respond within 14 days, which they DO NOT! If I could give 0 stars, I would!
Parking fines that are 400% or more than every other local municipality for equivalent violations. Discriminatory practices that disproportionately harm underrepresented populations and low income individuals. Complete lack of accountability or due process afforded to individuals to contest inappropriate or inaccurate citations. Frequent use of holds preventing student's from enrolling in classes, consequently denying access to healthcare and other essential services.
Parked in visitor parking where parking is free over the weekends and got towed. Had to pay a $300 dollar fine. Instructions for where visitors can park is very unclear and the price for parking permits on campus is ridiculous.
I very rarely write 1-star reviews, but UMass parking services is simply horrendous. They make you pay $$$ for a permit, then ticket you when you can't find a parking space in your permitted lot and have to park somewhere else. Extremely dissatisfied with their lack of ANY form of empathy when it comes to appealing a citation, particularly when your permitted lot was full at the time. And apparently at least this year, they completely ran out of permits for current students. How is that possible?? I agree with the other reviews that UMass parking services is really just out to get your money at every turn, and they take advantage of the fact that most employees and students need vehicles to get on campus due to the limited and extremely expensive housing in Amherst-- but, that's a tale for another review. They are unfortunately for us who work or attend school here a violently accurate example of a corrupt, monopolized system that takes advantage of the folks who are already pouring money and work into the University.
