We have been going to this restaurant for years when we come up from LI to visit our son. It is family style type of restaurant that makes going to dinner a truly great experience. The owners make you feel so welcomed and everything that comes out of the kitchen is superb. The staff attends to your table quickly, and always has a pleasant word with you. Dining the way it should be!
Excellent Italian food in a relaxing atmosphere. Service is always superb. They also have a large and excellent dessert tray and make a great cappuccino. Nice to dine at a family run restaurant as opposed to all the fast food chain restaurants .
Big open space. Great lighting and painting done. Should replace all rugs.
Would have given this place a negative 5 if it was available. Waited for over an hour for our food to come out and then the food was absolutely horrible. Wifes pasta was more of a soup and had what looked like dirty bath water and rubber heated up old chicken, and my dish was pasta covered in Buffalo sauce with warmed up old chicken as well. Disgusting food and over priced, would not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to be sick the next day or need a bowel movement. Should have known not to go here when we saw the outside of the restaurant. Place should be shut down.
Every time I go to Umberto's, I try something different on the menu. Wow they really make everything outstandingly great. The atmosphere is very relaxing and calm. I always leave satisfied and happy
I know several people that work here and I've talked directly to the cooks. With that in mind I can tell you that I have witnessed their efforts firsthand. The cooks and waitstaff at Umberto's work extremely hard to try to prepare and serve your food as hot and as fast as possible while still maintaining an even quality dish after dish. The main man behind the pizzas can consistently make some of the most perfectly circular and even-crusted pizzas you will ever see and taste. I can tell you for a fact that they make all of their sauces and soups from scratch, even their salad croutons and rolls. They grate their own cheese and shred their own mozzarella. Umberto's is the real deal. The owners are very friendly and care greatly about your dining experience. There are not many restaurants, especially along route 9, where you can find such care behind the scenes.
We went to Umbertos to get appetizers and watch a sporting event, the food was great, the atmosphere was perfect, great drinks, several big screens made watching the event a pleasure, and, the prices were very reasonable! I highly recommend it!
I ordered a Sausage & Peppers hero with cheeze motzarella cheese and kicked it up a notch and had it prepared on their Garlic Bread. The sausage was tasty, the peppers were sweet and the whole shooting match was very good. The price was acceptable. And I ordered extra sauce, however I did wanted it on the bread, but it came with a small container. The sauce was very good.
Not very good at all. Even the kids wouldn't finish the meatball pasta, saying it was not good. And what's up with the $18-$20 plates and $10 appetizers when you can get better food at a standard pizza joint?
Came on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised by a busy, lively bar. Had a great night watching the UFC fights in good company. Little slow on drink service though, but again, busy night.
