Connecting children and families with nature. The Complex includes the Nature Center, the Cassatt Preserve, the Barnyard, the Outdoor Garden Classrooms, and the Archery Range.
The Environmental Education Complex at the Upper Main Line YMCA includes:
1) Nature Center, with fourteen live animal exhibits, highlighting native turtles of Pennsylvania and North America.
2) Cassatt Preserve, 20-acres of woodland, wetlands, meadow, the headwaters of Darby Creek, a 1-acre pond, and over 5-miles of trails.
3) Barnyard, providing an up close experience with the farm animals that were once a part of the former Cassatt Estate.
4) Outdoor Garden Classrooms, bringing the wonder and science of native plants and vegetable gardening to children and adults.
5) Archery Range
The Complex is the backdrop for our environmental education programs that serve pre-schoolers through active older adults.
