UNC Horizons is a trauma-responsive, gender-specific treatment program for women and their children.
Horizons offers several levels of outpatient treatment, including individual counseling, relapse prevention groups, and SACOT (Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment Program). We also provide special programming for specific populations, such as the Horizons prenatal clinic for pregnant women and the Sunrise Residential Program for mothers and their children.
Horizons sponsors an Annual Conference on Women and Addiction each April at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill. We also publish a quarterly newsletter for service providers.
Horizons staff provide training and education to service providers and the general public in workshops and conferences. Topics include: Basics of Substance Abuse, Gender Specific Treatment, Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence, Perinatal Substance Abuse Treatment, Parenting Issues for Women Struggling with Addiction.
