We went in with the gleaned notion of 'expect bad service but great donuts.' The six cars also in the parking lot with us before the shop even opened told us it was going to be worth it. The older lady may not have been the most conversational or sweet, but she got the job done and even told us about the donuts since we were from out of town. She did ignore phone calls while we were there, but the line of people actually there was 8 deep, I certainly appreciate taking care of us first! The coffee wasn't great but lots of creamer choices to make it palatable, and quaint tables to sit at if you want to eat in. The donuts themselves were AMAZING. We'll be back if we're back in town!
Didn’t have an opportunity to experience it... sat in the the parking lot until well after opening, there was never any activity on-premises. If they’re not making the donuts even before opening, what are they serving when they do open. I’ve never known the cool mom-and-pop shops to not have business when they first open. Maybe when I come back to town next week I’ll have better luck?
My 3 teenagers and I stopped in this morning for my son’s “birthday breakfast” since we have never been here before and are relatively new to town. We were warmly greeted by the NEW owner and maker of the donuts. We had a great conversation and the donuts were amazing!!! The kids were raving about how yummy the donuts were especially the filled donuts that were filled to “how I like it” said the owner and commented that we will definitely be making this shop our place to get donuts. If you have had a bad experience in the past before the new ownership, please give Uncle Joe’s another try with the new owners. Friendly and amazing donuts!
We went to get donuts this morning after a 4 year hiatus. The shop is under new management and we had a wonderful experience. The new owner is very friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. My kids really enjoyed going. We will definitely be back again soon!
The place is under new management! The new owner is an awesome guy! I asked if they still shut down after they run out of donuts and he told me that he will be back there making fresh batches till closing. He also told me that if you call in he can make what ever order that you want you just need to give him a day or two in advance!!! 10/10 great donuts!
Uncle Joe's Donuts is the best place to get a sweet tooth breakfast in Lynchburg! It is one of my very favorite places to go in the mornings. The cake donuts, especially their acclaimed buttermilk donut, are the very best I think I have ever had! The lady who serves the donuts can sometimes be a little grouchy, but a little kindness will almost always be returned. Make sure to go early because they usually sell out of their good donuts by 9 or 10 a.m.!
I'm from out of state and wanted to find a local donut shop. I Google searched donut shops near me and read the reviews on it. Needless to say, the reviews didn't disappoint. If anything, they didn't do enough justice because these donuts were phenomenal. Loved them so much, I came back the next day for another dozen!
I was treated very rudely by the lady on the counter initially. The atmosphere is quite perplexing because one is expected to be able to say what donuts they want even if they have never been there before. I was very rushed and did not have an enjoyable experience. However, the donuts were amazing. I guess you can't get your donuts and eat them too.
This place would easily be five stars if they didn't require cash for purchases under $5. Come on get with the times, no one carrys cash anymore and most of my purchases are just coffee and a donut or two. Also the lady who runs the place is kind of mean. They should hire someone to run the front that's way more pleasant. Other than that this place has amazing donuts but one or both of these issues always runs me the wrong way.
Twice on Saturday mornings the older lady has been rude. "I don't serve strawberry covered here. As I pointed at a pink covered donut. I think they would benefit from having name tags on their donut trays to define the different donuts. Donuts are good, but service on the weekends only time I've been could use some work.
