UnCommon Law provides a professional yet personal level of legal service to prisoners serving life sentences and to their families.
Our staff has worked extensively on issues prisoners and their families care about, such as parole consideration (lifer) hearings, parole revocation, prison classification, discipline, gang validation, and safety matters.
In addition to direct legal representation, we offer training and informational material to defense attorneys, prison lawyers, law students, legislative staff, prisoners, prisoners’ family members and other supporters.
We strive to involve prisoners and their supporters in working to improve prison conditions and to find alternatives to incarceration. Our ultimate aim is to reduce drastically the number of adults and children entangled in the criminal justice system.
