Very good dental experience! This is our 3rd time going and our daughter is 2.5 years old. We were running a few minutes late, and no one gave us a hard time. We were seen quickly. The dental assistant Noelle was very patient, explaining all of the steps to LD, and was extremely gentle while counting and cleaning her teeth. Then Dr. Pam came into review, reiterated what Noelle said, and counted her teeth again. LD was given a pair of child sunglasses and was able to watch cartoons on the ceiling, so that probably helped the whole visit go smoothly. We'll see everyone again in 6 months!
I took my toddler to have a filling done. Upon entering, the staff was kind. We were rushed to the back toddler feet have trouble keeping up and without any introduction or a chance to let my toddler warm up to the place, they had him sit down and get hooked up to nitrous gas. I personally am unable to get numb with lidocaine. I asked the assistant if there was another option. She said she would talk to the doctor. Dr Butler came in and didn't talk about my question. I mentioned it again to the doctor and she said that there really wasn’t anything else other than lidocaine. She also said that lidocaine is usually the only thing most dentists have. I know this is incorrect because my own dentist was able to provide articaine which worked for me. At one point the doctor tilted the head part of the chair back so my toddler's chin could tilt back and up. This position allowed her to inject the lidocaine. He said that it hurt he said ow. The doctor and assistant both immediately said "no it doesn't hurt". His tongue became numb but he could still feel his gums. The nitrous gas kept him relatively calm but he was uncomfortable because the medicine didn't really work. They brought up the head rest to wait for the lidocaine to work. When doc came back, she said for my son to tilt his head back. He couldn't because the head rest was not tilted back anymore. I asked them if they could adjust the head rest. Doc looked at me and in a condescending tone said "What??" I tried to explain again that the head rest needed to be tilted back. She said "no it's fine", and proceeded to force my son's chin upward. The nose piece rests on the nose itself and can sometimes get dislodged when a toddler moves their head around. Near the end, the nose piece was moved to the side of his nose, and didn’t cover his nose. I waited to see if the gas would still work for him. Within seconds, he began writhing in discomfort and wanted out. This meant the nitrous gas was no longer working. I asked them to move it. The doctor said it’s fine. I insisted it was not OK.The doctor looked up at me and mumbled something along the lines of “okay whatever”. When the doctor was done, she made a quick exit. The front staff were kind, the assistant was patient and gentle, but we will not be back. Dr. Butler's behavior was unacceptable.
As always, Dr. Pam and her team did an amazing job. We have been patients for over ten years, and I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. My daughter’s tooth extraction went super smoothly, with no stress. Everyone was positive and accommodating, using very child-friendly language for the tools, answering every question I had.
Dr. Pam is the absolute best. She has a calm and patient demeanor that makes my children feel safe and confident at the dentist. They take their time, talking their patients through every step along the way. I could not recommend Under the Sea Dentistry more highly and will not hesitate to recommend to my friends and family with little ones.
I absolutely love this dentist. Two of my children are scared of any medical professionals and they work wonderfully with them, being patient and talking about what is being done and never rushing. My other two just love the whole fishes and get popsicles after their appt. I highly recommend
Always so warm and friendly! While my kids have apprehension I think normal for kids , they are always happy to go and get their teeth cleaned. The staff go above and beyond to make a great experience for my two kids.
I love bringing my kids here now! Their staff has greatly improved in the past 6 years and the actual dentist has been great as always. The office is fun and they do everything they can to help your kids be comfortable.
Under the Sea has been my kids' only dentist for about 16+ years. We especially love Dr Pam and Vanessa! The whole staff is amazing. They have made going to the dentist fun and memorable for my kids for years. Thank you Under the Sea staff!
My 5 year old daughter had to have some work done today and Dr. Pam and her team took such amazing care of her! They made her feel safe and comfortable and she didn’t get anxious or upset once because they supported her through the whole process. My family is so grateful to have found this wonderful dentist and will continue to have Dr. Pam work with both our children to ensure they’re teeth stay healthy. Thank you Dr. Pam!!
We have been patients here for over 5 years and have only great things to say about the team. My daughter is now 9 and gets genuinely excited about going to the dentist. The team is careful and thoughtful and do an excellent job at making the kids feel comfortable while providing an excellent level of care. Love them!!
