Handmade "Unfortunate Buddies"- Stuffies with various neuroses who need a little extra care and comforting. Also, a smattering of illustrations.
The first Unfortunate Buddy was conceived in 2010 as a gift for a friend (now fiancé). I wanted to make a plush creature that didn't provide comfort in the traditional sense of "Cheer up. Everything will be ok." Rather, I wanted a creature that would mimic the uncomfortable feelings we all feel due to life's unfortunate circumstances, providing the message "It's ok to feel your feelings."
At the urging of many friends, I developed a line of Unfortunate Buddies, and have sold them at craft fairs around Massachusetts since 2011.
I do not use a pattern, so each Buddy is unique. Short, wide, tall, slender, sad, perplexed, indifferent, eager, anxious, nervous...they come in all shapes and sizes, and each has its own personality (and degree of unfortunateness).
