Honestly surprised by the low reviews, the staff was amazing to me, and yes wait times are long but I think people fail to realize they aren’t the only ones in need. The department was busy so waiting is to be expected. I had amazing team helping me they constantly made sure I was okay and comfortable! Remember people we are all human
It would be nice if someone cleaned the emergency room. It's dirty with the floor in front of my current chair sticky enough that my shoe keeps sticking. We've been here for 3 hours and my sister has yet to be seen. She did receive an xray over an hour ago. They aren't even that crowded. Not to mention the total lack of privacy when checking in. Everyone doesn't need to know what brings each person into the emergency room.
Where to start!!! First their security guard for the ER has been given the authority to believe they have way to much power. It’s not a Fed building it’s an ER typical in a situation where you have to go to an emergency room, peoples emotions and thoughts are running high. You should be kind and compassionate. Now moving on to the care first of all the waiting area seemed kind of dirty very rundown gross actually we sat there for three hours in fast track, no one checking to see if he was OK. No one saying anything just sit here and wait and when he got angry and got upset, he got yelled at by some male nurse again no sense of compassion no sense of empathy nothing the PA however, was pretty awesome. Nice enough guy did what he could, I definitely hope that I do not have any type of medical emergency that I have to be taken to that hospital by ambulance. I really think that people need to review the policies review the staff review the setting because all in all I would give it less than one star if I could.
For 7 years we've used the parking garage for the 4th of July. Today we prepared due to it gaining popularity and we were able to park there ALLLLL day with no one from the hospital bothering to look at it, use signage or otherwise communicate. We were told on arrival, late for back up plans, that we're all disallowed due to issues we never witnessed and had nothing to do with the majority of people. Obviously "security" was there for this and not the admin who chose to RUIN THE HOLIDAY for the people. It's not bad enough that the large change over has mostly made healthcare worse, less reliable, and super slow, now they ruin our non health care too!
This was my first time at this hospital. After arriving, we were brought to the back and had high hopes despite the mixed online reviews. Everyone was nice and we moved fast...but that's where it stopped. We politely waited and didn't cause a fuss bc we knew there was a process but they left us and didn't check back for hours at a time. We stayed in the "back" ER for a total of 24 hours. We went through 3 shifts of staff members and still didn't have a clear plan of action after they ran blood and took multiple scans and xrays. The experience was the equivalent of gushing blood from your arm and being given a handkerchief to hold over your leg while being told the oxygen was on the way and your chart shows you are being treated for a heart attack but no one feela monitoring your heart is necessary. Confusing along with a clear lack of order and knowledge. The staff was friendly for the most part a few didn't have a good bedside manner and gave insults with a smile as if it was supposed to go over your head but it felt like they gave up on giving good care a long time before we arrived. Their only caveat to the mediocre care was telling everyone I overheard them give the same spiel to other rooms to "call guest relations, we are short staffed and we can't do anything about it." We ended up leaving and going to another ER. On the way out, a nurse said they'd never bring their own family there. And the new ER said they didn't trust the readings based on the discharge papers bc it didn't make sense with what was being seen on the patient then reran ALLLLL the test again. Within an hour, we knew the issue, had a plan of action and were told the delay exacerbated the issue being in the other ER for 24 hours and not being given anything more than what we can get at home. I can't say we'll be back to the ER section after this our first visit. I wonder how high our medical bills will be for essentially an unpleasant hotel stay. *The medical offices we visited around the same time seem very nice and attentive and knowledgeable.
We just moved here from Florida , what a great hospital , My wife just had Hernia surgery, The surgeon and his crew was amazing . Everyone that we have come in contact with the last 3 days that we have been here have been amazing. All the way from the emergency room all the way up. We are definitely sold on this great Hospital
I've had less than desirable visits here, but this one was great. I was accompanying my boyfriend who has pink eye. The receptionist was great and let us know some valuable info about back dating his insurance so his visit is covered when his coverage starts next week. The nurse, Julia, was great and gave him a prescription that can be filled for $4 at Walmart. Even better, the visit was less than an hour!
I'm going to be extremely blunt for this review...My wife has stage 4 advanced liver disease! As there are a few extremely attentive and kind w/great bedside manner, there are far more nurses and some doctors that apparently do not care about the patients and are only in this business for the or a Job! I am not going to name names but there are some nurse's who don't give a flying F$$k about the patients!
my name is Corleta Fletcher which may have ring a bell to you with regards to horrific nightmare I experienced when I delivered my daughter on 03/20/2023. I took a few days to get myself and thoughts together before thinking of how I should proceed and make sure no one else ever go through what I been through and I can honestly say if Union hospital that is available I wouldn’t go there that is how terrified I am at this point. I felt like I was butchered on that operation table I literally felt every cut to my skin and no matter how I screamed for help all I kept hearing is relaxed I have had c section previously with my first born and never even know when the surgery was over I need answers to exactly what happened? What went wrong? And what is the next step forwards I did surgery since 03/20 and I still have no relief from the pain and the fact that even my daughter next was tore during the process all I kept thinking what is they had cause more damage to her throat it’s like having nightmare everyday thinking about finding myself just holding her bust out in tears and my Husband just felt helpless in that operating room asking for more medication to help me. I appreciate the Nurse that stands up to write this report because horrible is not even the word to use I WAS BUTCHERED!!!! I seeking all resources and legal advice there is because I would hate to stuck with long term damages to my body from someone else negligence. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you Corleta Fletcher
As a retired physician, I have always believed that **kindness** is the best medicine. In my week of inpatient surgical care at Christiana-Union Hospital, I enjoyed nothing but compassionate and kind care from every single member of the hospital staff: transport, housekeeping, food services, the ER attending and nurses, the surgical team, radiology, and, of course, all the wonderful nurses on the ward and their certified nursing assistants! May you all be as blessed as you have blessed me!
