Union station is as beautiful as it is historic. There are many beautiful details in the ornamentation. Unfortunately with the pandemic the place hasn't exactly been the best of places. And an unfortunate amount of homeless people out in the cold who need help... I wish I knew how to help those in need. Either way, Union Station is a beautiful place, and seeing the grand hall is breathtaking in person.
Easy access to Union Station for Amtrak trains. Good food options just outside the station. Super easy access and good timing on train.
The station have a stunning architecture as in whole DC public buildings. At night I've felt a bit insecure because had some people over drugs/alcohol effects were messing with people who was waiting their trains. Since I was coming from New York and I live in Latin America it is not a big deal lol, but I could've notice some people feeling uncomfortable, besides that, the train get very late and it was rescheduled two or three times that night. Then I decided to leave the station and visit the Irish Pub at next corner fun fact, Obama had a pint there once the place is cool and could it be a nice stop before or after a trip to grab something to eat or drink. Anyway, the station is beautiful, very conservated and easy to get in several places in DC by metro or by foot.
What a beautiful architecture this building has, this station!!
Station has all transportation options you need. Covid destroyed the business, especially the food are below it. My number one issue with union station is the lack of security. Walgreens has special police hired inside the store but all around the station you are confronted by vagrants and watching criminal activity everywhere, it’s not safe.
Magnificent building with many shops and station.
Iconic train station. It’s fun to walk through and see the architecture. Clean, safe, and a lot of options for a quick bit to eat.
Beautiful building, great architecture, lots of stores and businesses. Walgreens in the basement has great DC tourist gift items on the cheap. However it was impossible to just find a place to sit. At 5:00 am ~ there was literally no where. Also a lot of mentally disturbed people at this location. The bathrooms were nasty. No phone charging station, no universal Wi-fi although some individual businesses provide it.
Union Station in DC is obviously a very important transit artery - but the building is also worth checking out as a standalone tourist site.
This is a good metro station for those transferring to Amtrak, MARC, or VRE. There is also several places to eat inside the big great Union Station Building. Also the Capitol is pretty close. Working escalator with great customer service at the fairgates. The platform and mezzanine are actually clean which is nice for a very busy metro station. This is where the metro bends into downtown and also this station is very very busy in rush hour.
