This was my first time at United Bakers! I was looking to take my girls to a Jewish Deli as we don’t have a lot of options at home! I was immediately thrilled by the cross section of customers and the business of the restaurant! You could tell right off that there was a strong community here! Latkes, Blintzes and Challah French Toast…oh my! The Mac n Cheese was delicious! My husband and friend had fishy things..that I don’t really care for..but they said they were awesome! Friendly service! We enjoyed it all!
I loved the history and story of this restaurant. I ordered cheese blintzes, potato latkes, a challah loaf and their famous pea soup. I was told by a customer that people come from far and wide for their split pea soup. If I'm being honest, I found the food pretty basic and overpriced. All this being said, I will always come back to support this restaurant as I absolutely love that it is a part of Toronto's history and a landmark for the European Jewish community. Indeed, when I was waiting for my food, there were a ton of elderly incredibly sweet people coming for lunch to meet their friends. It was so cute!
A very busy place, especially around noon! However, the atmosphere is almost family-like. Their split green pea soup is absolutely delicious! I love coming here!Food: 5/5
This place is fantastic! We have not actually physically been to the bakery but we have ordered lunch regularly to our store over the last few weeks and everybody is really happy. The food is delicious and personally, I can't get enough of their bagels. Thank you!Food: 5/5
The food is good and plenty but overrated. Bagels are okay. Don't recommend any omelet. Coffee is decent. The service is great. The atmosphere is lovely, lively, Jewly. Authentic place.Food: 3/5
Busy local restaurant. Staff is friendly and attentive. Excellent fillet of sole. It is a large portion more of a dinner. Large menu with and all day breakfast section. I arrived at lunch and the restaurant was very busy but I sat quickly and given a glass of water right away. The waitress was friendly and allowed me enough time to look over the large menu without seeming to rush me.
We had a family gathering and everything was lovely. Food was delicious, came fast and our server was absolutely delightful and polite with a glorious sense of humour and personality. All the staff were truly delightful, welcoming and high energy.Food: 5/5
Honestly, a gem. One of the last places you can get a great dairy meal on the regular. The menu spans from nibbles to full on feeds, a cup of soup up to a piled plate of salads. Big menu, something for everyone, and bakery goodies on the way out. Good catering for when you need it. A solid institution I hope keeps standing.Food: 5/5
Cozy place offering some traditional Kosher and meat free fare. Their soups are AMAZING!! Had the tuna platter which was good. Came with a side of tomato and cucumber but only got two little pieces of each. Latkes were delicious. Bagels were fresh and soft. It was a bit hard to make adjustments to some of the menu items but overall good. Will definitely go back!
The food is delicious! I have eaten here many times and am always impressed. The washroom is clean. The pea soup is to die for! The deserts are amazing. Quick table service. Reasonable prices. Excellent food. No wonder they have been around for more than 100 years.
