United States Post Office (Lenox Hill Station)

Description

The United State Post Office Lenox Hill Station is located at 221 East 70th Street between Second and Third Avenues in the Lenox Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It is a brick building constructed in 1935 and designed by Eric Kebbon in the Colonial Revival style, and is considered one of the finest post offices in that style in New York State. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, along with many other post offices in the state.BuildingThe post office is located on the north side of the street, midway between the two avenues. The neighboring buildings are large apartment houses, modern on either side of the post office and older across the street. There are two sections to the building. Both are three stories in height, with the first story faced in rusticated limestone on a granite foundation and the upper stories in brick laid in Flemish bond with limestone trim. The five-bay main section has a three-bay central projecting front-gabled pavilion with a stone pediment. To the east is a three-bay wing with a segmental-arched garage.

Horrible customer service!!! Keep throwing the forms at me and raising their voices, once I asked couple more questions about the price info, which was really confusing and turns out much expensive than It says on the pricing board they hang on the wall. Staffs acting like they do favor to you personally. Super rude people!!!
They have always allowed my SDIT with me until today. NYS law allows service dogs in training to accompany their trainers and handlers for public access. Rude customer service and borderline discriminatory.
I used to think that a bill payment just got lost but now I believe a disgruntled postal worker or two at this location is just trashing some pieces of mail. I've had 4 checks that never got to their destination and I had to stop them and write new ones Brought the replacements to the PO on York instead.
I would like a supervisor to contact me regarding the USPS clerk, Mr. Skylar Weathers unclear if that’s how it is spelt or if that’s his correct name and the way he humiliated and disrespected a person with a disability and their service animal my dog’s paperwork available upon request. I wasn’t able to go to the supervisor window because I had my baby strapped to me and I needed to get out of that building ASAP. He has no business working at a place that has contact with persons with a disability. If anyone has a contact at USPS I can reach out to, please let me know. Thank you.
They've always been excellent each time I come.
Employees were rude - refused to assist us with hand canceling our wedding invitations or allow us to do it ourselves despite it being a slow weekday morning and my having had some invitations hand cancelled at the same exact post office fewer than two weeks ago. Seemed like they wanted to continue sitting around eating snacks and doing nothing rather than assist customers.
100% THE ABSOLUTE **WORST** SERVICE EVER, I'd give it negative stars if I could. I went here to renew a passport, and after reading the application over to do so a dozen times, we thought we brought all the proper paperwork to the appointment. Upon showing up, they told us that we were missing a birth certificate something that didn't appear to be a requirement on the appication and said we could go back home, get it, and come back. After spending 2 HOURS making the round trip and digging up the document in question, they told us that because our appointment time had passed, we would be unable to complete the renewal and would be required to make a new appointment. The icing on the cake was how NO ONE ELSE WAS PRESENT TO GET THEIR PASSPORT RENEWED AT THE TIME. I get having to wait a bit longer if it's someone else's appointed time, but appointments generally take 15 minutes max, and I repeat, NO ONE ELSE WAS PRESENT AT THE TIME. We were turned away not because they couldn't further assist and follow through with what they said we could do get the birth certificate and come back, but because they didn't want to help out. If they knew they couldn't help us after noticing we were missing the birth certificate a document that isn't even listed as required to bring to the appointment, they should have immediately told us that they could no longer assist us to save us our 2 HOURS. AVOID THIS LOCATION IF POSSIBLE! Getting any official document renewed is never fun, but going to this place made the experience analogous to jumping 100ft onto a single Lego brick.
I would give it zero stars if they would let me. Can’t believe how rude workers were who work in customer service. Me and husband asked simple questions and we got rude short responses. They seemed offended when I said we used another post office. Honestly just a horrible experience I don’t know how they still have their jobs if this is how they treat people. I will not go back here.
Terrible Service. They don’t take Apple Pay and also don’t accept international packages after 6pm. All of this information you will only find out once you’re in front of the teller. I still don’t understand why most USPS interiors look like a Victorian mental asylum. Maybe if they put some care in the building it would spill over into service.
I had such a horrible experience here. I went right when they opened at 9am, and there was a line of people already waiting to be helped. The staff took their time, didn’t open any windows until 9:20. Some of the people on the line were elderly, so they asked when the service windows would open so they could be helped. The staff was so incredibly rude—yelling, snapping at customers, responding nastily to them. One employee even said she wasn’t going to help a man since he “annoyed her by asking her when they were going to open”, and instead sat on her chair and sipped her orange juice, purposely making us all wait and watch. I left feeling disgusted at what I’d witnessed. I’d avoid this place at all costs, seriously. Save yourself the horrible experience and send your mail elsewhere.
