The staff is always helpful, my package are always on time or early than expected and it is always a pleasure to come in.
Contacting the post office for assistance is nearly impossible. Package delivery is inconsistent at best on the weekends. When I asked why my packaged were not even loaded into the truck before they were dismissed as being oversized and undeliverable. Packages that were holding bits for a dremel tool. Maybe the size of a regular card envelope. I was essentially told that I ordered too many packages and the rest of the community ordered too many packages and therefore we should not expect to get our packages. My regular postal person has no issue just leaving them on my porch. They are WONDERFUL. Our weekend delivery service is horrible.
Update: 4 years later I have a new and even worse review. These employees are some of the most incompetent and lazy people I've ever dealt with in my entire life. As of the last week the USPS office has literally stolen our packages. When confronted at the office, they denied having our packages. I left them with my many complaints involving my packages disappearing never showing up in our LOCKED mailboxes and parcel locker. As well as us constantly receiving neighbors packages and them receiving ours. Along with many other related issues. I also left my number with them to call me. This morning they called, I missed it, so it went to voicemail. The same lady Kathy that I talked to the day before who said they had none of our packages, they now suddenly do. They told us that we are required to pick up our packages, and if even 1 day passes without checking our empty mailbox, they will refuse to deliver any mail from there on. Likely it's all retaliation for the constant complaints over the years. These people are disgusting. Expect your packages and letters to disappear or be held ransom. Old Review Best at damaging packages in mailbox by forcing oversized packages into it, and marking packages as delivered when packages have not been delivered. Marking mail as "unable to deliver", even though the mail person made no attempt to deliver as I've seen countless times. Constantly delivering mail to the wrong address. Worst employees I've ever dealt with at any Post Office. Avoid this incompetent business.
I have to say I am extremely disappointed in the postal service here today, Today I had a package delivered to me up here in Emerald heights, the mailman tossed the Box at my door! He did not set it down nicely, he tossed it at my door! I have a dry part right next to my door that does not get wet for packages. The mailman did not put the mail there instead he tossed my package in a puddle on the other side of the door. Most of your mail people working are amazing but the man you have today is extremely Unprofessional.
Our mail person is fine, however, the two women I’ve interacted with at the main counter are not very friendly. Certainly aren’t warm. The hours aren’t the best and there’s no way to drop a package after hours. Easier to go to a post office in portland when we’re visiting family.
In person these women are super! But on the phone they are below horrible. I called about 2 open claims in the Astoria Post Office and they cannot help and said they do not know what to do. The mail arrived in my mail box open and the Post Master refuses to deal with 2 open cases as well as the mail arriving open!!
I rarely get packages on time, get packages for other people consistently. they mark our business as closed when its open. I understand that the person that does the truck at night has had a long day and that they are chose at random. I have people from other business give us packages that were delivered to them when they were meant for us. There are several pleasant postman to deal with, but i think the place is just poorly managed. Biggest issue with this place is the fact that when you go inside it is always a negative experience. The people are always super grumpy and treat you hostile if you have any questions. I recommend going through another postal service as they have been so much more professional. I hate to leave a bad review. But after so many inconveniences, something had to be said.
Almost every day our mail delivery person will put other people's mail in our box. Mail that isn't even addressed to this address. And the ones she puts in the box that does have this address, but addressed to someone who isn't here, she will continually put it back into our box even though we cross the persons name out and put it back into the box
Just know that if you do not put an apartment number for your shipping address, then you're screwed... I had ordered something earlier this month and found out that it had been "disposed" of ONLY because my apartment number was not on the address and they were unable to return to sender. Same thing with another package as well; says it was delivered but I never got it only because my apartment number was not on there... They are pretty un-reliable in my opinion
The building is amazing. We were in a short line and heard a customer that was confused and voice slightly raised. The woman helping her remained calm, and was able to explain what was online was not in this actual location. Both women enjoyed a few laughs. We appreciated that the worker was helpful, and took the time needed to make the customer understand, and be happy with the outcome. We had another woman help us with paperwork for getting a post office box. She took the time to answer our questions. Friendly, and made sure our keys worked. It was a nice experience.
