It's a nice enough post office. There's this one angry old white dude that's a super stickler for your mail. He tried to get me to leave over me flip flopping the to and from areas on my package. Then there is this younger big black guy who is crazy nice. Mostly good people overall! Building is just old but that's what gives it the old timey charm.
Amazing service with passport photos and mailing. Made a long process comfortable and as efficient as possible. I had my young kids with me and the postal worker was so accommodating
Clerk was super rude and condescending. I came in at 4:31, thought they closed at 5:00 like normal businesses. Push on the door and it was locked, Pushed again in confusion. Went through other door and the clerk looks at me an says "are you going to keep pushing on the locked door? We are closed" he was with a customer. They closed at 4:30.
Mailed a package off to my grandaughter at College and William explained all the options of mailing it. He was very polite and professional. Asked me if I needed anything else. I bought a roll of pkg tape and postage stamps.
I left work to get to SM post office to pick up a registered letter. I am outside the post office and the place is closed. Right now it's 3:20 pm Monday. It's not a holiday and I find no reason why the door is locked. I have wasted time and hours of work so that they do not provide service. It's ridiculous!!
We lived in South Milwaukee for three years and this location and our mail carrier was always on top of their job. It was smooth sailing with them and we know how the reputations of many post offices go! I now live in a place where the local usps won’t even pick up their phone. I miss the level of services I received here when I lived in the area. We greatly appreciated them and our mailman!
I had a lost package that landed in the south Milwaukee office. I called and got Melanie who was the most helpful person I've dealt with and customer service. Week later my package is still floating around Milwaukee, out of the blue I got a message from her and she even called back the next day to confirm that she was tracking it for me and she was going to make sure that it got to me and she knew it was weird that it was taking so long. She was so helpful and reassuring!!
Earlier this year our normal mail carrier was on vacation for many weeks. We kept getting our neighbor's mail for 3 months. I called and explained the situation 4 times and they said they left a note with the temp mailperson. That wasn't good enough. I had to go to the location and tell the manager who lived where. I wrote it down on a sheet of paper. They made labels for both mailboxes. The labels were slightly wrong, so I fixed them and things were good for many months. Today after two months of new neighbor's getting their mail we suddenly got our upstairs neighbor's mail. They can't deliver mail and that's their only job. There is no point reporting it again because even with a properly labeled mailbox they messed up.
Absolutely worthless if you want to talk to a person. If you ask for an agent the automated response tells you that you'll need to give the agent the same info that the automated system requires and it then prompts you twice more. FINALLY when your automated master determines that maybe you really do need to talk to a person you're informed that your wait time is 40-50 minutes. They then have the gall to ask you for feedback after your call is finished so they can improve their service. These guys make the DMV look competent.
Me, my wife and two daughters needed to get new passports. The very nice lady I spoke to on the phone blocked out a sizable time slot so we could all do our respective renewals at the same time. When we arrived the woman who took care of us was knowledgable, kind and very careful to make sure everything was in order as to guarantee everything would work out the best for us. From getting our pictures taken , taking the oath and everything in between we were treated professionally and with courtesy. So often people will post their bad experiences but neglect to comment on when they are treated well. I truly appreciate the way my family and I were made to feel relaxed while going through the complex and tedious task of getting passports. Thanks to the lady that helped us and all the rest of the workers there.
