The historical Universal Recording Studios, in Chicago, designed by the great Bill Putnam
This page is intended as a tribute to the original Universal Recording Studios location that was designed and built by the great Bill Putnam. There seems to be little information on the web regarding this wonderful studio and it's history. Hence the creation of this Facebook page.
The studio was moved to it's new location at 32 W Randolph St. Chicago, IL 60601 in 1989 when the Walton St. building was condemned.
I have no affiliation with the studio other than working there for a short while. The studio was managed by Foote Kirkpatrick while Murray Allen I believe was the owner. The staff there was an amazing cast and in my time there I learned much from folks like David Gerbosi, and Michael Mason among many others.
I encourage you to share your experiences, images, and memories of this truly magical place we call a 'recording studio'
