It is our primary objective to maintain the highest safety standards and keep our personnel safe. The Universal Tower ensures that the planning and inspections are performed and documented. The documentation maintained on site while work is being performed, and/or thereafter by the employer at its place of business. The Universal Tower ensures that all fall protection equipment is inspected prior to each use for wear, damage, defect or other deterioration by competent and trained personnel who have been trained in accordance with 13NCAC 07F .0609. Defective equipment identified as defective and immediately removed from service. The Universal Tower ensures that each employee and /or subcontractor under the fall protection plan has been trained as a qualified climber. The Universal Tower ensures that personal protective equipment (PPE) and personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) and high angle rescue equipment needed to conduct elevated rescues are always used and maintained by the designated qualified employees.
STRUCTURAL MAPPINGS & INSPECTIONS
Our team of experienced OSHA compliant climbers, structural and mechanical engineers, certified technicians and designers will provide services that will take you through a site development process to successful completion at an extremely low service cost. An accurate tower mapping is the glue that holds the tower and its revenue stream together. Without it, owners cannot obtain an analysis to identify whether the structure can accommodate another tenant or if the tower is presently overloaded.
We offer structural mappings 1, 2 & 3. Full-Tower Structural Mapping 1: detailed report identifying all leg and member sizes in addition to the antennas, mounts, lines and other attachments supported by the structure. Report consist: drawings of mount members and appurtenance mount members, tower and compound to reflect the existing shelters, equipment platforms and all other utility locations rendered using A-CAD software. Universal Tower Structural Mapping Report 1: also includes detailed information of all appurtenances, transmission lines, access ports, foundations, guy cables, anchors, top flange, climb ladders and all other hardware of the typical structure along with line-of-site photologs. Universal Tower structural reports generated from accurate data collected by our professional field operations team. Our technicians carry state of the art-top quality equipment including: Ultrasonic-double layer thickness gage measurement instruments, laser-range measurement instruments, digital theodolites and transit levels, dispersive wave testing instruments, guy wire tension-meters, digital dynamometers and other HI-TECH portable data recording devices.
INSPECTIONS & MAINTENANCE
As the industry matures, tower owners are embracing the need to perform inspections with a greater degree of frequency as their assets age so that minor maintenance issues don’t turn into huge capital expenditure for the owner. As detailed in TIA/EIA 222-F, maintenance and inspection of steel antenna towers and antenna supporting structures should be performed by the owner on a routine bases. Through years of vast experience, Universal Tower qualified inspectors will perform non-destructive site & tower inspections including tower, compound, tower twist and plumb, guy cable tension and anchor, coating and corrosion, mount members and bolting, obstruction lighting and tower marking, appurtenances and feed lines, lightning rods and grounds, and/or identify any other problems that may not be a checklist item. Summer 2015 Universal Tower will be launching AWS certified team of welding inspectors to perform destructive and non-destructive inspections on tower welds along with qualified team of technicians to provide the installed foundation sizes when construction documents are not available. Universal Tower technicians will perform new technology based “dispersive wave testing” to identify the depth and structural integrity of the tower foundations which allows obtaining reliable dimensions without having to disturb load bearing soils.
As a cost efficient procedure the Universal Tower offer minor maintenance services as they are observed. Most inspections pricing is based upon the client-specific requirements and will be influenced by the number of sites awarded.
