Only giving 3 because it wouldn’t let me give 2.5. We’ve taken my son here twice. There were some good and some bad points. Good: They were able to get him in. We didn’t feel judged for needing their help. Overall staff was very friendly. Tricare covered it. Communication between docs and therapist were awesome. We really enjoy working with Phil. My kiddo seems to enjoy it. He brags about the “buffets” he’s always eating. He enjoys the pe time and arts. He enjoys making friends when he’s there. Visitation days were smooth and we always got the daily call. Bad: The front desk worker. Whew. Both stays there, she’s been less than kind. More preoccupied with her iPhone than looking up to see who’s at the desk. They ALWAYS “misplace” clothes. Why inventory if y’all won’t keep up!! Then when we try to get back our items, it takes hours to look for them. The first stay, proper follow up care was not made as promised by the staff. They dropped the ball. The second stay they did correct this issue. Overall, I’m thankful for the decent experience. We are working with outpatient next door for therapy currently, so we will see how this plays out.
One star because 0 isn't an option. Its a prison, people. DO NOT GO THERE OR TAKE ANYONE THERE. Staffing is rude, especially the nurses. I had called ahead of time and explained the services I was looking for, and the woman on the phone assured me I could come in at anytime to speak with a social worker to get referrals. I went in, explained my normal symptoms which included suicidal ideation and the therapist I spoke with decided to admit me without asking further questions. I was kept there for 5 days even though they preferred 7 to 10 days. It's hell3. Do not go here. The only people that deserve any positive review are the group therapist and one nurse.
The El Paso Behavioral Health hospital has made great changes to the facility and patient care. The leadership and staff are knowledgeable, and are keeping their patients health and welfare a priority. The staff also inform the patients family members of there status good or bad. Thank you Mr. Rod Jackson for your outstanding guidance and leadership for the staff at El Paso behavioral health hospital.
After my stay here I would like recognize someone who has been the saving grace of this whole facility, Ron Jackson. This facility has a lot of communication issues between the nurses, the techs, the psychiatrists, the therapists and the management. If there was anything that needed to be done, Ron was the person who got it done! Everyone else I asked for help would always give me the runaround with sayings like "that isn't my job," "Ask the therapist," or they would simply ignore us. I brought these issues up with Ron and IMMEDIATELY he would say "Let me help you with that." If he didn't have the answer to my question he would reply with a smile on his face and say "I don't know but let me find out for you." Within an hour or two he would be back with not only an answer but an explanation. He went way above and beyond his paygrade to give the proper care to not only his co-workers but his patients as well. So Ron, these Five stars are for you brother.
When i went in the lady at the front desk was really nice at first but when we entered it was living hell. They had us in the children's waiting room and when they called us they were first checking my vitals excuse my spelling I'm young and I was really anxious so I decided to try and play a game that would relax me but the lady took my phone away and told me I was rude, then they told us to go back to the waiting room, when we did they called us to a different room to ask me questions but I don't understand why they allowed my grandparents to come with me to ask questions, I was so uncomfortable, and the guy who asked the questions forced me to talk about my trauma they made me cry 2 times that whole visit. I do not recommend..
From a veterans perspective this place was awesome. They really have a great staff from the techs to the janitor. Mr.Ron as well as Mr. L really are involved. They even help to get your claims started. Great place
The place is super dirty and everyone is always on there phone. No one is really around to help out with things that you need and for some reason they seem to thrive on you not being able to return home. Emergency Detention Orders are a joke.
Beware if this place. I took my son in because his pediatrician recommended it. They promised I would be able to see him every day, and after he was admitted I found out it wasn’t true. They promised I would be able to get an update on him but no one answered the phone, not even the nurses. I received one single call from one of the therapists the whole five days he was there, I would call and no one would return my calls. The psychiatrist that treated my son never called me so I never knew what was going on. I learned from my son that they were planning on keeping him for 10 days only because he would cry all the time. He would cry because he wanted to go home. I went and I told the staff I was checking him out and only then I got a therapist to talk to me, at that point the therapist said it was ok for me to take him home. He was there for five days, so why were they planning on keeping him there for ten days??!! They act like they’re there to help but the reality is that once they admit the patient they don’t really bother to find out if the patient is actually getting the care they need once they are out. My son kept having nightmares for weeks after he got out and even after months of not being there he still cries when he remembers that place. He told me the walls are filthy and decaying and that the staff is mean to children. Find a better option for your child than this place.
All frustrations and complaints aside, the main reason this facility earns a 5 Star in my books is Mr. Ron Jackson Dir Military Liaison. Sergeant Major Jackson would visit all units that had struggling Young veterans like myself and do everything humanly possible to make sure information was not pipelined and that needs of the veterans under his care were met. In my darkest time I started to loose hope, I needed a sweater and Ron Jackson found a nice jacket for me to wear for my comfort. That simple act alone helped me continue with treatment and keep faith in the system in place trying to help me. If anything is taken from this, just know that this facility has the Right people working the Right positions to help its patients.
If you are a Tricare beneficiary DO NOT bring your children here. ASK for a different referral. NO communication between staff. NO proper communication with parents. False promises to get your child admitted. Admission under false pretenses!!! They will also lose your personal belongings If you decide to do AMA please note CPS will be called. Again DO NOT COME HERE FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND FOR YOUR CHILD
