Serving as the pastoral center for the students, faculty, staff, and community at Emory University, Agnes Scott College, and Oxford College.
The Emory University Catholic Center, an agency of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, serves as a pastoral and an educational resource for the Emory University, Agnes Scott College, and Oxford College communities. The objective of this ministry is to complement students’ secular education with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In this manner, the Center helps students become mature Catholic adults able to live faithfully and morally in their personal and professional lives. The Center also serves as an informational and pastoral resource for inquirers into the Catholic faith.
Join us for one of our several programs and activities throughout the year! There are many opportunities to explore, celebrate, deepen and live out your faith. Educational offerings include guest speakers, Archdiocesan programs, and co-sponsored events with other faith communities on the Emory campus. Worship with our community and participate as a lector, sacristan, liturgy, Eucharistic minister, altar server, singer, or musician. The University Catholic Center offers retreats during the year and provides for those who wish to explore their faith through spiritual direction. Scripture and homily groups meet regularly to study informally and to reflect upon the Scriptures, drawing upon Catholic biblical sources for interpretation. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) provides instruction and Catholic formation for those who have never been baptized, those baptized in other Christian churches, and students who have not been Confirmed in the Catholic Church. The culmination of the OCIA process is the celebration of the Rites of Initiation at the Easter Vigil. As a Catholic community, we are also called to serve one another. Join us throughout the year for volunteer opportunities with local Atlanta organizations.

The University Catholic Center is a pastoral and educational institution which exists in parallel to Emory University and Agnes Scott College. Our distinct mission, to complement secular education, is accomplished by teaching the Catholic faith and reinforcing moral principles for Catholic students who attend Emory University and Agnes Scott College. The twofold objective of the campus ministry is to assist Catholic students and others who are interested in Catholicism to become Catholic adults, able to integrate faith and morality into their personal and professional lives, to strengthen the body of the Church, and to educate the laity.
