University General Surgeons (UGS) is located in Knoxville, TN and Lenoir City, TN. We currently have 9 physicians in the group and practice exclusively out of the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC). UTMC is a teaching hospital with 536 inpatient beds with the only level 1 trauma unit in East Tennessee. UGS is solely responsible for all the trauma patients, with all 9 surgeons board certified in General Surgery and Critical Care. In addition to trauma and critical care, UGS surgeons perform elective general surgery cases and cover the emergency room.
