University General Surgeons (UGS) is located in Knoxville, Tennessee and Lenoir City, TN. We currently have 10 physicians in the group and practice exclusively out of the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC). UTMC is a teaching hospital with 536 inpatient beds with the only level 1 trauma unit in East Tennessee. UGS is solely responsible for all the trauma patients, with all 10 surgeons board certified in General Surgery and Critical Care. In addition to trauma and critical care, UGS surgeons perform elective general surgery cases and cover the emergency room.
