The Rector of the University is given the responsibility to insure the presence & development of the Catholic and Marianist Character of the University by teaching the pillars of the Marianist Charism: Faith, Mission, Community, Inclusivity and Mary.
Our character... The Catholic and Marianist character of the University of Dayton is critical to its mission and vision. Primary responsibility for enhancing the Catholic and Marianist character of the University rest with the Members of the Corporation, the Board of Trustees, and the President. Responsibility for developing the Catholic and Marianist Character of the University is decentralized, i.e., the responsibility is delegated to the major divisional leaders such as Vice Presidents and Deans. These divisional leaders are responsible for developing programs for enhancing the Catholic and Marianist character within the mandate of their division.
