"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results."
- Andrew Carnegie
The University of Michigan Hybrid Racing Team, founded in 2011, is comprised entirely of students from a multitude of majors in all of the University's schools. Each year, the team of 50+ active members builds a hybrid-electric, Formula-style autocross race car from the ground up.
At the 2017 Formula Hybrid competition in New Hampshire, Michigan finished 5th overall, and won the FCA Innovation Award and the GM Best Propulsion System Award for our in-hub electric front wheel drive system!
This year, a new design mentality and simplified vehicle powertrain have laid the groundwork for yet another season of innovation, as well as a renewal of the team's competitive spirit. Michigan Hybrid Racing is looking forward to bringing its new team - and updated car, to New Hampshire to compete in the Formula Hybrid Competition this spring.
Go Blue, Drive Green!
Michigan Electric Racing is building on the experience and passion of the Michigan Hybrid Racing team with an all new electric vehicle architecture. Each year we design, build, and test our own formula style electric race car for competition at Formula SAE events. We are a team composed of student leaders and engineers who are driven by a passion for racing and innovation. Our goal is not only to win, but do so with cutting-edge technology that offers a hands-on experience to enable the next generation of engineering leadership.
