MU Extension is a partnership of the University of Missouri campuses, Lincoln University, the people of Missouri through county extension councils, and the National Institute for Food and Agriculture of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
In St. Louis County, this partnership involves St. Louis County Government as the local partner. Representing the people of Missouri is the St. Louis County MU Extension Council, a volunteer governing board of elected and appointed members. The extension council guides extension programming, administers extension county funds and makes personnel recommendations.
University of Missouri is a land-grant university within the Cooperative Extension System, a nationwide, non-credit educational network. The Cooperative Extension System has a federally mandated mission to carry the benefits of university research beyond campus.
The state of Missouri has two land-grant universities: University of Missouri and Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
