UOBS is located on the north shore of Lake Texoma (Oklahoma-Texas border), approximately 2 hours south of the main campus in Norman. This is the first university-affiliated research facility to be established on a man-made lake.
The University of Oklahoma Biological Station was established in 1949 with the primary objectives of promoting research and education in ecology, evolutionary biology and field biology. A variety of summer academic classes for graduate and under-graduate credit as well as independent study.
