Founded in 1889 by Presbyterian ministers to educate the youth of the mountains, the University of Pikeville stands as a school of opportunity and the leading university of Central Appalachia. Situated in the heart of Central Appalachia, we are a private, four-year liberal arts and sciences university with a college of osteopathic medicine and the only optometry college in Kentucky.
