All in all it's a fair size park that seems like no one goes to but that may it more peaceful for me. Playground: There is a small area for kids to play on the playground it's in fairly decent shape. Picnic area: I only saw maybe two picnic tables but I could be mistaken.
This is a really nice place in a nice location. But it doesn't feel nice when your here. It use to be a huge spot for people to come and gather and hang out together. Sadly thou you can't have a bunch of people hanging out together anymore without something jumping off. A few years ago they were having too much trouble with people shooting at one another that the city got the parks dept. to step in and take control the place regularly. The issue was all the homeless sleeping and making camp around the park. Once they got rid of that problem a lot of the issues disappeared. However so did the people. The way they went about policing the park was pretty harsh. Not everyone who would frequent the park were bad or a nuisance. However their extreme enforcement caused many good folk to stop coming and enjoying a good time chilling here. But trust me, if you want to get outside and have someplace nice to relax at while enjoying the city and outdoors for a few hours, then this is a nice spot. Its quiet, your in an open location, so your in a safe place. I like to come here and lay down on blanket and read a book while resting. Don't overlook the huge potential this spot has.
Very well maintained Park IMO. There are Maintenance people there most of the time so very few homeless people. Plenty of shade trees and they put wood chips in the playground. There are 2 Basketball courts, and they have a Cornhole game near the playground. In the Spring the parents bring their kids to play soccer.
Crime and drugs all fenced in homeless Haven. Poor kids have to see that when using the pool which is very nice
Very nice park. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are often locked. What do you do when your child has to pee?
This park used to be amazingly fun we’re you could hang out and enjoy family time now it’s gone down hill and the bums over took it. Not a safe area to bring the kids there is to much going on even with drugs. One day I hope they bring it back to its glory
It was ok not much there just a place to sit in the grass in the shade ..and hang out for some time when you don't have anywhere to go but you got some time to kill ..there are no restrictions.or any where you can get a drink water.so it could have been better then it was..
It's a small park. Lots of different people come here. I wouldn't bring children here though. Not a good environment for children. But for adults, it's a slice of the good life. The Park Rangers. And City of Phoenix employee's are kind and respectful. That means alot to all of us who come to this park. Thanks University Park.
I live next door to the park and I enjoy the sunrise every morning from Downtown Phoenix through the park
Opens too late for coffee and sunrises
