"A Course for EveryoneWith five sets of tees ranging from 5,005 to 7,289 yards, University Ridge offers something for players of every ability level. The wide-open front nine rolls through a preserved prairie and marshland, while the first six holes of the back nine are cut out of a dense Wisconsin woodland. The course opens up again at the 554-yard signature 16th hole, which features 3 fairways and 12 bunkers. The 18th is the perfect finishing hole as a climb of 182 feet between woodland and prairie is required to complete the 443-yard par 4.The University Ridge Golf Course is a public golf course and the official home course to the University of Wisconsin men’s and women’s golf teams. The course opened in 1991."

So, for the past 6 years, I've been traveling down to Madison, WI from the Twin Cities, pretty much every month like clockwork for my work. Every year, I've been trying to play University Ridge in Madison and for the past 6 years of trying to play, I was always met with the course either being 100% booked, closed for an event, hosting tournaments or league night. So, for 6 years, I've been trying to play this course, and today, I finally made it happen! And it was worth the persistence and wait! University Ridge has constantly ranked among the top courses in WI and Midwest. It plays host to the Champion's Tour's American Family Championship since 2016 and is home of the U of WI Badgers golf team. Everything about this club is top-notch! The proshop is well stocked with a great variety of top brands and products. The bar & and restaurant have great food and drinks, with nice views down 1 and 9. The practice range is one of the nicest around and rivals any private club in the area. I was paired with 3 college students, and the course was fairly full, being the only nice day in the forecast this week 50° and sunny with little wind. We played in about 4:10 and the pace was just fine; being cart path only didn't help with pace at all, but it gave me the opportunity to snap a ton of pictures without hindering anyone's pace. What I loved about the course was the diverse mix of holes and elevation changes. At no point did the course feel repetitive or boring. For early April, the conditions were as good as anyone could ask for, other than some snow lingering in shaded areas. University Ridge rose to my favorite Madison golf course today. It's so hard to list favorite Wisconsin courses as the state is littered with amazing golf courses! But if I had to, it's top 10 for sure and should be on your radar if you haven't played it.

Beautiful course with greens that will not stop! It was post hosting a senior tour event but man they were quick. Course was in great shape, really enjoyed playing it!

Every town has their “ If you are ever in …. You must eat here, and see that over there”. U Ridge is a staple and is definitely on Madison. Wisconsin’s to do list.
I am so sad at the condition of this course. The Ridge used to be the best course in southern Wisconsin. After playing it last week, it is such a far cry from what it used send to be. No wonder why steve is moving the am fam to Cherokee….so much nicer. Sad days ahead. Save your money folks, go play Bergamont etc, they’re in better condition.
Great challenge! Well kept golf club and friendly staff. Every time I visit that area university Ridge is a must.
Review for XC skiing trails. Trails are well maintained and nice series of variable difficulty. I lived up in Northern Wisconsin for many years. These trails are as good as many places up there. Not remote or quiet but good trails. There is a daily fee which I didn't realize until I went there. It's worth it. They do a nice job.
Course is always emaculate and challenging. The golf instruction is top notch and the pro shop has the best/stylish gear.
Tough course but in very good condition. Greens roll fast and true. Great course for the price. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Madison.
