We stand behind the tag lines “buy sell exchange” and “our cash, your clothes …lets trade”. Our concept is quite simple. I was happy with my experience. The staff was friendly- especially Aren who was very polite and helpful-, and the prices were good for what I got. The dressing rooms were clean as well. I wouldn't buy into the negative reviews too much unless you are the type of shopper who needs to feel special every time you walk in somewhere. If you're not stuck up, I think you will find value at this establishment.
This is my third time coming to the store and wondering if the staff was racist. I will not be returning. I walked in and neither of the staff two white women greeted me a black woman. I stood there and watched as every white guest who entered thereafter was greeted by the staff. I went to the counter to check out and one of the staff typed at a computer and the other folded clothes. Neither acknowledged me at all. After about 2 minutes I finally said excuse me twice before either of them acknowledged me. The woman at the computer looked and said are you ready to check out instead of apologizing for leaving me standing there and ignoring my presence. After I checked out, I didn’t receive a “have a good day” or any friendly send off that the white customer who I saw check out receive. When I was leaving, two more black women entered and they didn’t receive a greeting either. I suggest if you are black, shop at the College Park location. My experience suggested to me that black people are not welcome at the Annapolis location.
What a wonderful experience. The variety of items was the best I've ever seen in a consignment store. The attire layout pleasant and very well organized, again, best of others. The prices even better! But what was the icing on the cake was the courtesy and knowledge of the staff. A special callout for Shannon who went above and beyond, even taking on the role of buyer assistant, even to offering opinions on looks. Wow, indeed! I'll be a regular customer.
This was my first time at the store and I came in on a Friday afternoon when it was not busy at all. There were are about 4 associates in the store and no one greeted me when I walked in. I was specifically looking for a certain type of dress, so I was doing a lot of browsing but still no one acknowledged me. One associate then came around asking the few customers in the store if they needed baskets; mind you there were probably only 2-3 other customers in the store and this associate asked EVERYONE but me. I then assumed maybe it was because I only had 1 item. I walked toward the fitting room and the three associates standing right next to the fitting room but behind the counter never acknowledged me still. As I began asking one of them if I could get a room she cut me off and told me to just go ahead. The entire time I shopped there, and I tried on 3 dresses, not one associate spoke to me at all. The dresses did not fit and so no I did not end buying anything so I guess that’s why there was an extremely awkward silence as I walked toward the exit to leave as all four associates quietly stared me down without saying a peep. This was the most intriguing shopping experience. I am a 29 year black woman from upper Marlboro Md. I’ve been coming to Annapolis to shop at Annapolis mall for years and never really ventured to the other parts of Annapolis and when I tell you this will be my first time of MANY. I’m so glad that no one spoke to me during my shopping; it was peace and quiet and I WILL be back to shop from there very cute collection. Have a great day. :
I love Uptown!!! I primarily shop secondhand and have found some amazing items here that have lasted me years already. The store caters to younger people/teens, which makes thrifting easier for us younger folk. The employees are always nice, attentive, and helpful when needed, in person and on the phone. Not sure why all the reviews are full of people complaining about the store not taking all their clothes... I've brought in lots of clothes and they never take all the items, but I'm getting rid of them anyway, so I'm happy to get store credit for whatever they offer! What they take also depends on what's trending/the season, clothing quality, and what they already have in stock - which they tell you when you bring stuff in. It's a business, not a place for *you* to make money online places like Depop and Poshmark are better for that.
Have alot of stuff. Most in good condition. Good luck selling to them. Sold clothes there twice and they don't take much. I called with the last box to see what they needed. Gave them a box of only the newer summer clothes and bags I had and they declined most of it. Im not totally sure how their buying process works but it seems a bit inconsistent.
They are out of touch with current trends and brands that have real high value and can truly bring in a new audience for the store and lastly how is determining factor or tools used to make decisions on products being sold because it seems as if that unaware of any relevant brands that being said train the personnel to do a better job, unacceptable.
Strange experience. Came into store to pick up an order i placed over the phone and came to the counter and was stared at by their employees who are predominantly white one who was the cashier as well as another individual who stood beside me staring before saying something to the cashier as i stood at the counter waiting to be acknowledged as though they were afraid or something before finally being given my order
This place is a ripoff! I had high end items. A BRAND NEW TELFAR BAG. They passed up on it. I advise you not to come here and sell your items. They will pay you out $28 on items that are worth $1000+
I used to love to come to this place, but lately I’m not feeling it. It used to have great prices for used clothing that would last pretty well. Now, the clothing they sell seems more expensive and the payout for items you sell to them is AWFUL! SELLERS BEWARE: on two occasions in the past six months, I’ve sold to them. The first time, they wanted ~10 items including a designer handbag for less than $40. The second time, they wanted ~8 items including two coats including a brand new one with a $200+ price tag on it and told me it would be $20 in cash or $25 in store credit. Highway robbery. I’m sure whatever they’re selling items for are a crazy amount more than what they’re paying out. It’s really gone downhill over the years — will not be consigning there again. It’s insulting and a waste of time.
