For the team at Urban Reclamations the best days are standing inside an old derelict barn or long since retired commercial building, taking note of its building timbers shaped hand into the frame that still stands a century and more later.
The color though faded held promise of a warm patina just below the dusty skin, its purpose now fulfilled it is obvious why we want to re-purpose the historic framework and soaring timbers so as to bring their ancient glow and character into our homes.
The vast forests of old growth trees in North America were once one of the greatest natural resources on Earth. Trees that were hundreds, even thousands of years old were used to build the cabins, barns, houses, railroads and factories that our country was founded upon. As time passed many of these structures outlive their useful lives.
