This is a nice little reastraunt with good food I had a beef sandwich and I liked how they put corn in it. I also enjoyed the chilli it was hot but it didn't burn. It was a clean store with nice design.Food: 5/5
Talk about unique roadfood, this is it! One of a kind old school BBQ. The food was absolutely delicious, the setup inside is very much like a diner even the snappy quick service with a smile the menu is very simple, there's maybe about 10 things, but its mainly about sliced barbeque beef, pork & ham. Since I had the option to get all three on one sandwich I did! They have a very unique coleslaw relish based barbecue sauce then I've never experienced anywhere else. The prices are not to be believed, it's really inexpensive.
This place has been around for a long time. My father grew up in the are and many of the good stories started off with: We all met at US31 barbecue. The menu is simple. What kind of Sandwich do you want to? The menu is under the plexiglass on the table. The menu is so small that it should only take seconds to decide. Because the menu is very limited. You receive your food And just a few minutes. In fact, it took us longer to grasp what the menu was then it did for them to get it to us. Which is good because the restaurant is extremely small. It truly is a small town diner. The staff is extremely friendly and works with those very well that have not yet been there before.
I grew up in Muskegon. My sibling are still there. I live out of state & every time I visit, the FIRST place I go to is US 31 BBQ! I've lived in Denver. Houston, DC, MD & I'm now in NY but no one has a BBQ as awesome as US 31! Always stay in business! You guys are the best!
Update Sept 2022: the prices have increased by a modest $0.20 in 3 years on pork bbq, and equally modest increases on the other offerings. U.S. 31Barbque is one of 3 local food cravings I satisfy upon returning to Muskegon after long absences. I prefer the pork sandwiches, but ham and beef, as well as combos are also available. The various pies are highly rated, but I can only speak of the Baklava, its a great way to finish your meal. The meats are prepared on premises, and the sauce/relish is unique. After many decades eating here it never grows old.
A historic local treasure. Stories about people traveling across the state for "US31 BBQ" are common. Great food at yesteryear prices. Give it a try!Food: 5/5
Quality has gone downhill....so sad. I walk by at different times during the day and evenings. I NEVER see meat on the spit anymore. What the heck? I guess that could explain the quality maybe. I still buy the sauce but cook my own pork now, outside, low and slow. Tastes like the original.Food: 2/5
Simple BBQ sandwich menu. Soup of the day. Consistent quality. Place has been around forever. Parking: Limited spots, can be tight when it's lunch hour.
Always a great experience. It's best to go in, knowing what to expect. The building is a small diner type place. The BBQ is a relish based sauce, not the brownish red sauce many equate to BBQ. It is sandwiches, made with piled up, thinly sliced Beef, Pork and Ham, either or combination of them that is smoked onsite. The food is delicious, but can tend to be messy, so you might not want to wear your best clothes, or eat carefully. They also have fries, drinks and dessert. They are not open late, only until 7pm, and closed Sun.
