I was sent here to USF St. Petersburg because when I applied for USF Tampa, they stated it was “at full capacity,” something that no professional university should do. Sending students to completely different campuses is absolutely unacceptable. I could have still been accepted to USF Tampa and have gotten an apartment off campus since on campus housing was full, but USF decided to make it more inconvenient for me and located me to USFSP. But this is only looking at the surface of how awful this school truly is. Ironically enough, housing is the major issue about this campus. I was boarded in Residence Hall One RHO for both my fall and spring semesters, and it is the absolute worst place for any college student to be housed in. Both the washing and drying machines on all the floors that they are located do not work at all, PERIOD. The card reader for these machines will constantly read “Sorry, temporarily unavailable —— Out of Order” every time you try to use them, no matter the time of day. Because of this, I had to walk across campus to Osprey Suites the newest housing complex on campus just to get my laundry done, because RHO’s machines never work. In addition, RHO is not a very clean and well maintained facility, as I have encountered flies, trash, dust, and hair in the hallways multiple times over. The dorm rooms themselves need some improvements, as I have been housed in a room with broken blinds, chipped floorboards, and minor bug problems. To summarize, if you are going to come to this university, and want to live on campus, APPLY FOR OSPREY SUITES. Do so as early as possible, because many students want to be housed there because of how new it is, and also because it is connected to the dining hall, the Nest. A second problem I had with housing was roommate matching. I did not put any requests on the online application that I wanted to be housed with UMatter students, or any other group of student communities on campus, and yet I was housed with UMatter students. For those who are unaware, UMatter is a program at USFSP that helps people with intellectual disabilities become further engaged in college life and education. I quickly had a lot of issues with these roommates, and their inability to respect the boundaries of others cleaning up after themselves, taking trash out, noise levels, inviting other people into our dorm room without my consent or awareness, etc. I was told by housing that they would need some more help with me reminding them to do simple things such as those, and that they were being in touch with specialists on campus to help them out, but I had to focus on my own academics since I was concerned I was not doing well. I had no reason to be housed with them, and it made my entire fall semester so awful that I had to get a different room on another floor for spring. The classrooms, however, are very nice, since they appear to have been recently renovated. The interiors of the classrooms are modern and well lit, and provide for a good place to study or do work with friends. My favorite building of them all because the campus looks very nice, is Lynn-Pippenger Hall, which houses the Kate Tiedemann College of Business. It is a very nice building that offers a lot of amenities for its size, and the classrooms are also very good. I had very positive relations with my professors here on this campus, and they are very nice and supportive. Overall however, I had an awful experience the time I was here. This is by no means an ideal institution for serious students who seek to improve themselves and become better individuals, both socially and academically. I genuinely had faith that I could still make the most out of my time here, and that things would turn our alright because I did not want to come to USFSP, but that never occurred. I understand my opinion is somewhat biased considering that I did not want to be located here, and that there are lots of other students that like the campus there, but my time spent there was time I wish I could get back. Do NOT come here.
I love my alma mater! I studied English Literature and enjoyed every moment of being at this beautiful campus. I highly recommend getting into the honors program, it makes the educational experience a thousand times more exciting. Some cool things about this campus: you can rent sail boats with your student ID, great library, superb gym and downtown St. Pete is is packed with great cafes, restaurants, museums, etc.
Very beautiful and peaceful campus right on the Marina. Good to visit on the weekends.
I really have had a great experience at USFs Muma College of Business. Great faculty, staff and students.
The girl at the desk told me that they charge $12 for a single time visior pass to their tiny little gym.
On my first visit to the USF St Petersburg Campus, I was trying to see an advisor to register for classes Nova and a young lady went above and beyond to help me, Nova was able to schedule for me to meet with an advisor at the Tampa Campus, thank you both.
Beautiful campus. Everything else is awful. I transferred to USF, hoping to meet some intellectuals, boy was I wrong. The financial aid office was very rude to me, feigned ignorance and could never actually help me. I contacted them multiple times about paying my loan and was always directed toward the wrong office. My statistics professor was unfamiliar with his computer and the programs for online classes, where every lesson was mirrored 100x and the formulas could have been explained but I would never know because of his mic issues. The students are some of the worst people I've ever met. Drinking, partying, lolligagging litter-bugs. This is not a campus for serious students. As you can tell, I am very bitter over how USF treated me. 1/22 further updated. My sister needs one class to graduate, which was not available until the following semester, she had to continue taking classes to get financial aid, classes she did not need, to take a class later in the year. By the time that happened she was too burnt out to continue. Advisers were not able to help her with this. No one saw how this was an abuse. It haunts our family to this day. If you go to the Tampa campus, it's too hot, year round. Try out SPC, Hillsborough community college or PTEC.
A great campus for undergraduate and graduate students alike. USF does a great job offering opportunities for students to engage with their peers and within their community.
A really beautiful campus by the water. It is really peaceful and clean i highly recommend checking them out!
USFSP's got one of the most beautiful campuses I've ever seen and is right by Downtown St. Pete, so no matter what you're craving, you're bound to find it. There's a wide variety of interesting classes and class sizes are pretty small so you can get individualized attention. There's also a good variety of clubs and fun events almost every night. As a recent graduate, I would definitely recommend it for anybody looking for a smaller school that contains all the best parts of a larger school and more!
