This happened last summer, but I had family remains being sent to my home. I wasn’t there to sign, so the note the delivery person left said it was going to be held at the USPS facility for pickup, which was going to work out fine for me. So I went the next day, and showed the lady the slip and explained my package was being held there. She looked around for what felt like 60 seconds and then said “nope it’s not here, can’t find it, it’s not here,” and I said but this note was left yesterday said it would be here. And she insisted it wasn’t there and wanted to take my info down so they could put it as missing or something, and I started crying. I was mourning the loss of a loved one and there to pick up their remains which were SO important to me and the idea of them being missing broke my heart even more, which I didn’t think could be any more broken than it already was. She asked what was in the package because I was sobbing and I choked out the words “family remains,” and she quickly responded “oh why didn’t you say so” and went to a different area and grabbed a box and gave it to me. The other people in the post office felt bad for me and even offered to hug me when I left. This situation didn’t have to go the dramatic way it did if she had looked a little harder for my package instead of taking 60 seconds of her time to say “nope it’s not here.” And while I understand you may keep ashes in a different area, I feel like this didn’t need to go the way it did and she could have been more empathetic. I still drop off letters at this post office… in the box. But I will never go inside to be helped ever again, because I have no wish to see that woman ever again with that experience. I was already devastated by the loss, I didn’t need this situation to occur as well and put me through more emotional turmoil. And it was embarrassing too, to cry and sob like that in front of a line of people.
We have the best people working at our post office, they're all really nice and helpful!! Shout out to Everette, he's super friendly & my favorite postal worker. I wish I knew the other people's names up there, they're all so wonderful!!
Self help items are completely unstocked. Hope you don’t need to do business past 5.
Very nice and friendly, good service, no waiting long at all ty
The guy with the dark hair working the counter today 4/8 at the Pekin office refused to help me. I explained that I have never mailed anything before. He told me to "do it over there". I asked if he would help me, he bluntly said no. That's ultimately lazy work ethic with a poor attitude. I hope something changes. Not that it matters, but my mom has always had great experience with UPS and I will try there next since I didn't get my package mailed at USPS.
They keep on sending our mail to the wrong address and continue to do so after filing a complaint. Our mail carrier stood there and argued with my dad about the problem. Unprofessionalism at its finest!!!
About your once every other week we get no mail in our neighborhood mail truck drive through but doesn’t stop this is a 55 or older neighborhood and we need our mail what is the problem
The United States postal service is a typical government agency that goes out of their way to not actually have to do any work. It's impossible to call them and get an answer to a simple question. They provide hours worth of online question selections unrelated to anything a normal person would have, but for a person to actually pick up the phone and answer, good luck, make sure you're sitting down when you call and have lots of time to wait.
The ripped the cover off my mail slot, literally yanking screws out of my front door to toss mail in rather than using the mail box clearly posted, open, clear of obstructions on the porch at the side door. One of the screw holes, thanks to the humidity, ripped a chunk of door clear to the inside. Can't get anyone at post office to respond. Obviously a severely frustrating experience...
I find that when I go to the post office it is stead but wait time is not bad. I also have been there after hours and have not been able to find a single change of address cards any where. But over all its clean and well organized place.
