I’m very sad to be writing this review. In 2019, I had a wonderful experience with this company touring China. In October 2022, friends and I booked another trip with them to visit Beijing, Thailand, and Cambodia. The second trip has been fraught with deception and lies. Today, 13 days before we are scheduled to depart, their phone lines are closed. So I used their chat bought to ask about the flight and hotel details for the trip. When we booked we were told that they would be provided 30 days before departure, and with her other trips, we pay the fee to get them even sooner. Here’s what the chat bot said: “We have received an updated from our China tour department. I am sorry to inform you that many customers have been canceling regarding the long layover of flight schedule. Your tour is not a go. We are offering a new schedule date, with the same price. Besides, If you would like to visit other destinations, we are also offering full travel credits.“ This is an outrageous way to learn that the trip you’ve been planning for a year is cancelled. Also — I’m not sure it’s real! There’s no notification in my UTO account. And nothing via email. It’s outrageous.

If it was possible to give this company a zero rating, I would. Please whatever you do.....do not book through them. We purchased this package in 2019 and were supposed to go the year the pandemic started so we had to cancel and move the trip out to this year. They were extremely unprofessional they sent us an email stating that we had to pay $300 for gratuities for a trip we haven't even taken in less than 24 hours, or we would lose our reservation. Then they booked our trip and our flights to return home will take three days with two over 17-hour layovers, we have a 23-hour layover for a 2 hour flight unless we pay another $750 for better flights. We are 20 days out from our trip and have yet to receive our trip itinerary. They always tell you that they will send you information today and the information never comes. They are a rip off do not book with them!

I wish there was an option to give zero stars. Whatever you do please please please do not use this company. It is a 100% scam. We booked a trip and are trying to get some money back now and they are telling us we cannot get a refund because they did not receive our passport information. Which by the way, I have a printed copy showing I gave them everything. This is a trip worth $1800 and they are telling us we must pay $1200 to enter passport information now. What kind of scam is this? Whatever you do, do not use this place. - I don’t understand how they were recommended by big company like Travelzoo and travel zoo does not check who they are using

You would be an absolute fool if you think this tour company is actually legit! They sell vacation packages that they know that can't deliver. Then they tell you that you can't get a refund even if THEY CANCEL. What kind of Bulls...t is that?  Go on their media pages, and they have bots and fake accounts posting how fantastic of a time they had. It's all lies, folks. These people have given Chinese people a poor image. Thankfully, I know some awesome Chinese people who do not do business like utovacation and, hence, would be ashamed to be associated with such a pathetic travel company.  They need to be sued, hog tied to a tree, and punished for stealing from innocent people! I will never deal with these low lives again, and I have advised others not to as well.

I WOULD GIVE 0 STAR IF I COULD!  My mom passed away last week. We have a trip booked to leave tomorrow night from JFK to Portugal. Since they are totally unreachable on weekends, I called UTO this morning to ask if it is possible to get credit to use for a later date, understanding that it may be too late to get a refund. The representative told me it is too late to get credit. I explained to the representative that my mom did not schedule her death and asked her if there was anything she could do to help me. I was going to send her my mom's death certificate if needed and she said NO. No credits, definitely no refunds. I told her hotel rooms usually have a 24 hour cancellation policy and so are the tours. We even paid gratuity in advance, and they won't even credit us for that? Who's keeping that money?. She just keep dismissing me and telling me that's the policy and there is nothing they can do to help and it doesn't matter who I talk to.

We did the Best of Thailand vacation and had the most excellent experience with UTO Vacations. The trip was very well organized and the guide were very friendly and knowledgeable. We are looking forward to our next adventure with them.

RUN from this company. Do not even CONSIDER doing business with them! In fact, they have engaged in so many unscrupulous actions that I will be filing a lawsuit against them btw, their TICO registration number is associated with "New Pioneer Travel" very soon.  They gave us travel credit for two canceled trips. This about $5000 sat in their bank account for 4 years, until that destination was finally able to be visited again. They confirmed there was a tour on the date I requested the only one I can do, due to being a teacher and having a specific week of spring break in which I can travel. The trip now cost nearly TWICE as much as we originally paid, so we had to pay additional thousands on top of our credit. Originally, it was a reasonable price. Now it is a worse price than competitors, and worse than we could do if we just arranged the trip to Japan ourselves.  AFTER paying that amount and getting an invoice saying the trip was PAID IN FULL, they then implied my travel might not happen unless I switched the date which I can't do to a week earlier. They then tacked on an additional "mandatory tips" fee at the last minute -- and illegally charged more for tips than the Terms and Conditions stipulated -- and then suspended our travel when I pointed out that problem.  I then filed complaints with the BBB against both UTOVacation btw, they have been so unscrupulous that their BBB accreditation has been REVOKED as of August AND against their associated company name, New Pioneer Travel. I also filed a complaint with TICO the Travel Industry Council of Ontario. After this, my travel was instated and I was told in writing that the tips fee had been waived.  One day later, I received a notice that I must still pay the tip fee -- AFTER they waived it! -- and also stating that they would no longer be honoring the discounted airfare they had offered us again, via email, in writing.  I honestly don't think I have ever done business with a company this unscrupulous, untrustworthy, and dishonest. I am about to submit an Ontario small claims court claim to recoup my $7000+ immediately.  If you have been wronged in similar ways by UTOVacation or new Pioneer Travel, please contact me... a class action lawsuit may be warranted.

We traveled to Italy through UTO the last two weeks of March, 2022. It was WONDERFUL ! We had round trip airfare to Rome, hotel for 6 nights for about $799 PER PERSON ! We changed the departure city from NYC to Washington DC, which made it the $799. Before the change, it was only $499 per person !!! We were a bit unsure of traveling on Turkish Airlines, as we never used them before. It was either going to be really good or really bad ! IT WAS GREAT ! The Turkish Airlines staff was very accommodating. The plane itself had large, comfortable WIDE seats, with footrests. The tray tables were BIG. The full meals they served WERE DELICIOUS !!! It was a long flight, with layovers going and coming, through Istanbul. The Istanbul Airport is SPECTACULAR !!! We didn’t mind the layover, as we had never been there before. Although, watch your belongings carefully while there !!!  In Rome, the hotel chosen by UTO was a lovely small hotel in s beautiful neighborhood, with many upscale shops and restaurants, within a 20 minute walk of the Vatican ! Delightful !!! We will happily use UTO in the future !!! A GREAT DEAL ! Very REPUTABLE TRAVEL AGENCY !!!

DO NOT BOOK. RUN RUN RUN RUN. I booked a 10 day trip and didn't find out until 2 weeks before the trip that it was canceled due to other people canceling which meant their travel partners didn't have enough people. So they canceled. The service was poor throughout the entire experience. It's a SCAM. Period. Please just don't do it. I plan travel for myself all the time and decided to give this a try. NEVER AGAIN.

RUN from this company! We booked an Egypt trip, paid UTO extra to avoid a long layover. The plane was delayed and we were not re-booked by the airline for 24+ hours meaning we would MISS the tour, because they would leave without us. Long story short, they are refusing to cover the additional tix we purchased BECAUSE THEIR STAFF PERSON TOLD US TO.  Home now, and they are completely ignoring us.  Horrible, horrible experience.
