UVA Health System

I am very disappointed with UVA Lab services. We have been coming to UVA for years but the customer service is getting worse. I am currently going through a tough time emotionally and physically. Getting infertility treatment and after IVF my fertility clinic out of state ordered some blood work every other day and this is a stat test which you have to fax the results to doctor in an hour they have to monitor my hcg as they suspect ectopic pregnancy which could be a life threatening. I called to double check that they do have the stat service and they said yes but it was so frustrating for me and my clinic that they were failed to fax the results same day. Today I was the 1st patient at Zion cross location and it is almost 5pm now and still no results showing in my chart irrespective my several calls. My clinic did not hear anything from them either. If you don't provide the stat service then don't claim. Also the lady at the front desk was extremely rude. Do not come in medical profession if you don't have a compassionate heart. I am planning to go any other lab for my further tests.

Wonderful Dr. an staff. Makes you feel like your with family an friends My quality of life after 15 years of pain is 100 % better. You all rock

People are nice enough, but I was told prior to my appointment by the billing office that there was an uninsured self-pay billing adjustment. NOT! After the fact I was told it doesn't apply to office visits. $458 for less than 10 minutes with a dermatologist that didn't even have to have any lab work done. A total ripoff. I will never use the UVA primary care system again.

Very disappointed in the dysfunction between the PCPs and the pharmacy, and filling my prescriptions in a regular reliable way without having to send repeated messages, make phone calls, and multiple trips. You would think if someone was on the same unchanged RXs for years & months they would be able to get it together.

Do NOT go here if you like being seen promptly. My son was recommended to go here by UVA hospital as it was close to our house. They have two pediatricians who DO NOT WORK ON TUESDAY. Of course both times my son has been sick it was a Tuesday. Also, I always do a late appointment so my sons dad can also attend. The Dr always tells me she "Doesn't mind the late appointment" because she likes it when dads want to be involved but yet the last time we went her and the nurses sat outside our door WHERE WE COULD HEAR and complained about the late appointment and wanting to go home. If they didn't leave us sitting in the waiting room 20+ minutes then we would be done well before 5, but since they did when we left the schedulers were gone. I was told by both the Dr. & the nurse that someone would call me. The Dr. and I work out when his next appointment time should be and then she sends it to the front desk. I wrote it on my calendar and low and behold no one ever called and I didn't realize until the calendar notification reminded me. He is due for his next round of shots and now they can not get me in for OVER a month!! The scheduler I spoke with today told me "I never get late appointments" and "They don't call to schedule appointments, ever". Now no one can get him in for over a month and his vaccination schedule is going to be off because someone didn't do their job and clearly no one cares about my son at this facility.

I'm very disappointed in the scheduling team. I was sick and they told me go to prompt care they had no doctors. Dr Phan was the only doctor and she was booked up. When I finally got to see Dr Phan she knew nothing about my situation. They never talk to the doctor about your problems. I followed Dr Phan to zions Crossroads and I'm going back to Sentra with her. Called today helded on for 10 minutes was disconnected called back was told to go on mychart and send a msg.

The doctors are great, if you can see them. I have had 2 appointments lost by the office staff. The first they called and cancelled, then couldn't find to reschedule. The second, they told me one day and entered a different day into the computer! So there was no one available when I showed up. Nice people, but horrible at scheduling.

They don't have enough doctors and you can never be seen for a sick visit. Dr. Varney is a fantastic doctor but the office is never available for short term appointments or sick visits.

UVA has been the worst hospital/care facility I've been to. They don't warn people that they will ban you if you miss four appointments, so forget my blood pressure or any other life threatening conditions. They like to overcharge, didn't give me a heads up when my finacle aid was going to run out, cause you know they like to squeeze every bit of money out of a person. They told me I could still use they're speacilty care if I want to, told them no thank you I'll find somewhere else. Told me they sent four letters warning me this was going to happen, I keep all of my mail so I went through all of it only found two letters saying I missed an appointment and that's it. All and all this place is a joke and a scam I hope in the future someone takes over and changes a lot about this place, AVOID it if you can.

While I have found that Dr Varney is excellent, there are never any appointments available to actually see her, and scheduling staff is not empathetic to your needs. So basically if you want to receive your well care here, where you can schedule your appointments months in advance, that works. But plan on going to the ER or Riverside Urgent care if you are sick because they will have no available appointments. This is very disappointing for us as Dr Varney was excellent but now we're contemplating finding another physician because Zion's Crossroads UVA medical complex has no appointment availability.
