Prevention Innovations in Medical Education
As a result of our progress in developing the integrated public health curriculum, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health was awarded a 5-year, $1.5 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to develop Prevention Innovations in Medical Education (PRIME) beginning in August 2012.
This grant will build on the existing efforts including the Transformation of Medical Education activities, to help the School of Medicine and Public Health shape a new generation of health professionals who will value primary care and incorporate health promotion and disease prevention into their practice.
PRIME targets MD and physician assistant (PA) students, and aims to fully integrate public health in the curriculum at three distinct but integrated “tiers” of public health education.
