University of Wisconsin-Parkside College of Social Sciences & Professional Studies.
On July 1, 2013 we became the 4th college at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Our departments: Criminal Justice; Geography; History; Institute for Professional Educator Development; International Studies; Politics, Law, and Philosophy; and Sociology and Anthropology.
The College of Social Sciences & Professional Studies is home to five departments (Criminal Justice; Geography; History; Political Science, Philosophy, and Law; and Sociology and Anthropology), the Center for International Studies, and the Institute of Professional Educator Development. These programs offer opportunities for students to engage with issues of diversity, social justice, equality, sustainability, and globalization. The skills that are acquired in these disciplines and interdisciplines help students apply their knowledge towards making their communities – local, national, and/or global – more productive and fulfilling for the group and the individual.
The units in the College offer a myriad of opportunities for students to engage with the community, including internships, local and international service learning, and collaborative research with faculty. Our commitment to interdisciplinarity allows us to see the human and social condition from a variety of perspectives, and prepares our graduates to be flexible and adaptive to the changing world of the 21st century.
