Kundalini Yoga:
In any yoga, each body posture is called an Asana. Generally, yoga is done with a series of Asanas that, combined, relax and stretch the entire body. Kundalini Yoga, however, groups Asanas together into Kriyas. Each Kriya is designed, based on Hindu yogic science, to work with specific areas of the body. For instance, there are Kriyas designed only to work on the spine. Some Kriyas are designed to increase compassion and open our hearts; others are designed to assist us in maintaining contact with the Divine. Regardless of their focus, all Kriyas are accompanied by mantras (chanting done in Punjabi), mudras (hand gestures) and often visualizations; there is also spiritual singing. A more spiritual form of yoga than other forms of yoga offered in the US, Kundalini is best for those who want to connect to the divine via their physical bodies and minds.
