I’ve been using the services at the Oceanside Clinic since it was first built and find the support staff and doctors professional and helpful. As with any bureaucracy, it is my responsibility to be clear, ask specific questions and to follow up using the patient web protal. If you need to call and speak with someone about a medical issue NOW, call the nurse line. Start with the number on the back of your VA ID card if you do not know who to call. Keep a record of who you speak with and what is said. We also have quality support and benefits counseling services available at the local VA Vets Centers AND the County of San Diego Veterans’ Service Offices. My suggestion: Be patient and yes tenacious too. From a combat Nam vet.
Oceanside audiology was previously excellent. Now, it hands off the case and ignores my need for hearing aids. I waited for an appointment and got "you have wax In your ears" handoff. I had a second tier professional who squirted warm water in my ears, took my broken ear pieces, and I wait. I need new hearing aids that work. HELP! It's over a month now....
How these people manage to have more than one star is beyond me!!! Please do yourself a favor and drive out of the way to another VA clinic that actually cares about veterans because you will not find that at this location!! My husband has been having terrible sleepless nights for over a year now. He finally decided to go get some studies done. Not only did he have to wait months for his appointment but then he had to wait even more months for the results. Due to his tight schedule right now he is not able to go to the VA in person. He decided to make his appointment for his results virtual. That was a mistake!! Every time he logs onto the virtual room where he’s expecting for a practitioner to show up, no one ever shows up!! He’s waited for over an hour!! Which he then has to call the VA clinic to let them know what happened and the receptionist always tells him the same thing. “You have to speak to patient advocate about it.” Well… I’ll have you know lady that patient advocate is who he is trying to get his results from!! How can he speak to someone that never shows up!!!? He had had to do this not only once or twice, but three times!!! He called this VA clinic again today and was told the same thing. The receptionist told him that she would have to make him another appointment and the next one available is not until November!!! That’s 4 months from now!!! All my husband needs are his results! God forbid he had a rare lethal condition if left untreated!!! My advice to you if you’re reading this is DO NOT GO HERE!!! Go to the ER on base, you’d probably get faster results and kinder service!
I have spoken with Marcy within the Community Care dept. Every conversations has been professional and productive. I appreciate all the care and work that goes into helping our veterans. Even on the backside every interaction is important for care.
I just tried to checking to the area after moving here to update my information and get mods. The fool woman at the front desk must be incapable of anything besides collecting her check. Apparently one must make an appointment to check in and if the only person who does this isn't there. The world apparently stops spinning because someone can cover the duties. It disgusting the amount of useless civilians making life harder on us for a check. It should be other veterans and competent civilian personal in these facilities. Not this mess.
I have been a patient for 6 years here and am absolutely pleased with the levels of service and care.
Why did that flag have to make its way into our medical centers. It should be a professional environment where there is neither push nor pull from either side. At the end of the day those are personal beliefs and personal beliefs should not be displayed or expressed in medical centers, schools, or other governmental buildings.
Love the Clinic I get the best care here you can see and feel they truly care about your health here.
Last resort medical care. The va is over loaded and under staffed. Thank you federal government.
I have to be honest. This is the best VA clinic I have ever been to. Caring professionals and you can actually get someone on the phone. I live north of Los Angeles and still keep this place as my primary care because they’re that awful where I live
