The doctor that attended me was completely blind to the psychosocial ramifications of my condition, did not order the test I came in for, and said, "you already waited this long, might as well wait a few months to see if this works" when she gave me an oral medication. This was so disheartening. Even if she had given me exactly the same medication, adding some compassion to her language would have made the experience better.
Most academic institution clinics I’ve seen are pretty bad but this one is incredible. If you’re a student and on the university insurance you might have to go here first, however note that the pharmacy can’t provide OTC and has limited hrs. The clinic can’t maintain a steady staff and generally the clinicians are specialists who have to be a GP for too many patients so they’re often late and overbooked. I’ve had one or two halfway decent experiences but only because it was routine check. The times I’ve actually needed medical care I’ve been gaslit and disrespected. Lastly, supposedly you can get a vaccine here except for no dates are available and no walkins accepted at least since I’ve been a student so 2 years ###in summary### •If you need meds or vaccines go to CVS at town and country. They’re responsive and fast. •If you need urgent care go to Sutter health. •If you need specialty care or real medical treatment get a referral to Stanford Hospital. •I suppose if you need practice with patient advocacy this is a great spot, so one star for that.
I feel sheepish leaving a bad review, but I just strongly recommend folks find another clinic for their care, if they can. Everyone is kind and I’m sure there’s just a faulty system, but the number of hours I’ve spent dealing with errors at Vaden is somewhere between funny and tragic — referrals sent to the wrong fax numbers, extra appointments because the clinic forgot to run my samples, errors entered in my profile, repeated hangups while on hold, telehealth appointments where the provider never showed up… There’s a new surprise every time :,
They are incredibly awful. Did a blood test, the girl poked me first time, blood is coming out, and she yanked the needle out in between. She is very distracted and keep listening to others conversations during the blood drawing process. She wanted to do the same arm when my arm is still bleeding. I asked her to do it in the other arm and nothing come out. Then she asked the more senior phlebotomist and didn’t even apologize. The senior phlebotomist did a great job, but she kept saying because I am dehydrated, when I explained to her that her coworker did the first poke with fast blood flood coming out. Now both of my arms are bruised with three pokes. Stanford forces grad students to use Vaden care, and we have no choice. They can do as bad as the job they can, and all students still need to suffer through this awful place. I am extremely concerned about my health care quality in the next few years I am at Stanford.
Horrendous waiting times and utterly incompetent phone policy. Expect to wait at least a week for an appointment and to spend ages on hold before someone answers the phone. If you're lucky, the person answering the phone will then put you on hold again and simply never get back to you.
Vaden is awful, but Stanford gives you no other choice as a graduate student. As another reviewer mentioned, there is always a five to fifteen minutes wait for your appointment, but when you are late ten minutes, they will refuse to take you. They will also force you to come back another time if you have more than one medical issue at your visit since their visits are limited to twenty minutes. Vaden also refused to give me an annual health check-up because they claimed to be understaffed though there were few students on campus during winter break and a lot of open spots on their scheduling site, and I had to advocate multiple times before they finally relented and gave me an annual checkup. They also cannot take care of simple issues like acne medication and will make you seek an outside provider, whose high bills you will be responsible for. Lastly, CAPS does not inform you that there are copays until you have accumulated hundreds of dollars in copays. I have also encountered rude staff that give you incorrect information. I give them two stars because I have had a handful of good visits with pleasant providers not CAPS, but Vaden health.
Terrible service making appointment on the call and getting help. The assistant person with appointment is arrogant, disrespectful and unhelpful.
Been to Vaden a couple of times and things were good, and I have been wondering why the review is so bad until today when I had a frustrating experience. I made an optometry appointment for the earliest time possible which was in a month. Then doctor canceled my appointment for some mysterious reason, and the customer service told me I’d have to wait another month. Ironically, those who made an appointment before I get to see the doctor before I. I told them this isn’t fair and I really need my eyes examined, and they said they’d try their best to get me a spot if someone cancels. I waited for days but nothing. So I called again. When asked what exactly would they do to get me the spot, they said there is no guarantee and there isn’t much they can do. So they are just trained to say “try our best” while they can’t handle my problem any differently.
Lab technician is extremely rude and I was told I would have lab results by a certain date and my primary doctor hasn't even received my lab work. I don't understand why there is a need to be extremely rude when I only speak to her with respect. I'm avoiding returning at all costs. Update: It has been over a month since I was prescribed a medication, and was told that I would be contacted when it was ready. I don't think it takes a month to get back to someone. I've just had an overall negative experience here.
I'm not sure why Vaden has such a bad review here, but personally I had a really good experience here. I went to Vaden mainly for two things. The first thing was acne. I've had acne for maybe 7 years till then, and I have tried going to doctors previously but received marginal or not long lasting results. I went to Vaden, and my skin has gotten so much better today. Second thing was for my hand injury. I went to Vaden regularly for about two month. My doctor was extremely kind and great. The nurses were also really helpful and kind. They were also providing me wound care supplies. Really thankful to the staff at Vaden.
