Constructed in 1973, in the Rhoades Science Center, featuring a Spitz 512 optomechanical system, this is the only Planetarium of its kind in North Dakota.
"The only planetarium in ND, this is a Spitz Optomechanical system installed in 1973. The Physics 275 "Planetarium Science" class is dedicated to the hands-on learning of the operations of the machine through the creation of student-produced original shows that are demonstrated freely to the public. We attempt to host at least one public showing a month. Other shows for groups may be scheduled through Valley City State University Events Services."
