Valli Produce International Fresh Market is named after founder Alfred Presta's hometown of Valli in Calabria, Italy. It was a small farm town, with an extremely hard working population that all considered one another to be family. Like many Italian immigrants, Alfredo came to America looking for an opportunity and a better life. Alfredo held several jobs in America, but knew his true calling was in retatil produce. Without any formal education of training, Alfredo opened his first produce story in Chicago in 1977 with his nephew, Guido. In 1989, Alfredo partnered with two other newphews, Lou and Frank, to open the first Valli Produce International Fresh Market in Arlington Heights. Today, there are six Valli Produce locations including the newest store in Evanston.
