The Valparaiso School of Law Veterans Legal Clinic "the Clinic," would be dedicated solely to ensuring that veterans have access to free legal aid.
The Valparaiso School of Law Veterans Legal Clinic "the Clinic," would be dedicated solely to ensuring that veterans have access to legal advice regarding VA claims. Specifically, the mission of the Clinic would be to provide pro bono (free) legal support to veterans in obtaining their disability, medical, and educational benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Clinic will provide Veterans with VA benefits claims assistance and representation for claim appeals for all VA benefits provided from the US Veterans Administration (VA). Additionally, the clinic would provide legal assistance to active duty military personnel with claims/rights stemming from the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). The Clinic would also provide participating law students with a unique learning opportunity in this underdeveloped area of law that will shape their legal knowledge and will ultimately produce more qualified and experienced lawyers with knowledge of veterans law.
