Trying to make an appt over the phone, or on the website is HORRIFIC. The phone buzzed, clicked, I sat through numerous voice menus, until finally being disconnected. Online required your insurance information to proceed only to tell you it is a week to confirm your insurance coverage! Usually at other specialists it's seconds! FORGET THIS PLACE, TOO MANY OTHERS TO GO TO WITHOUT THESE LOW QUALITY SERVICES. WE PAY YOU TO WORK FOR US PHYSICIANS, NOT US WAITING ON YOU!!!
Poor quality services reported by several patients at Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center VBWC. Hence, alerting local healthcare providers and patients, avoid referring patients to Vanderbilt Audiology department. As a former student, I have seen Vanderbilt Audiology has deteriorated over a period of time as compared to early 90s and 2000. Examples: 1. Unsupervised New born hearing screening by technicians. 2. Does not even perform Otoscopic exam properly nor remove Ear Wax. 3. Disabled Nursing home patients caregivers reports long waiting time and just performs Tympanograms and document, unable to perform further Audiological Evaluation on most disabled patients. 4. Always performs ABR testing under Anesthesia costing over $1000 on infants as their Behavioral observation Audiometry and other tests are not reliable! 5. Wrong diagnosis due to Audiology eval done by students. One of the patient happened to be a Physician had Bilateral Minimal to Mild Conductive Hearing loss was incorrectly diagnosed as Unilateral Sensory Neural Hearing loss and was fitted with a monaural Hearing aid for $1340. Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Audiologists are recommending and fitting Costly hearing aids even if its not indicated. Vanderbilt Audiologists probably gets commissions if they sell hearing aids! They even have Holiday Promotions of 20 % discount for doing illegal and unethical activities !! They deserve a police investigation, Chart review of all Audiology patients and report to Health Department. Stay Away from Vanderbilt Audiology Department!
I don’t understand why they would lie about not being able to schedule a consultation. Vanderbilt walk in clinic referred me to them bc of a ruptured ear drum. I called after 5 days to check-up on the referral and the receptionist said they have my order but can’t schedule my first appointment bc they have to get my pre-cert through insurance. She said my insurance takes at least 10 days to approve their services. For a consultation? What are they pre-certing if they haven’t seen me to know what my complications are? I asked the receptionist and she was less than helpful! I called my insurance and they said a pre-cert wasn’t needed for an appointment, that’s only surgery, and Vanderbilt hasn’t sent anything over for approval anyway. I just need someone to look at my ear….typical Vanderbilt.
Original visit was wonderful with Dr Haynes. He said my husband was a good candidate for cochlear implants. That was six weeks ago and no one has contacted us for further testing. I have called and still no luck. My first call I had to wait 15 minutes then I was transferred 4 times with each one telling me yes we have an order for Mr Scruggs. I was finally told they would turn it over to the coordinator and they would call within 24-48 hours that was a week ago. Maybe this one star will change but for now that is all I’m giving.
I was having some inner ear pain and was not sure what it was. My virtual visit with my Vanderbilt Primary care doctor recommended I go here to get checked. I went in, took a hearing test, had a 2 minute meeting with Dr. Trone and was out of there. The whole ordeal cost $900. No one asked me if I was ok to take the test and that it would cost over $560. They clearly just had me take the test because it is a $ maker for them and not because I actually needed it. Very frustrating and not patient focused care.
I have been a patient here for over 10 years, during which time my hearing has required a lot of attention I have had three sets of hearing aids and most recently had a cochlear implant. I’m the kind of person who asks a million questions before I can make a decision 1. Vanderbilt is always on the cutting edge for technology, in testing and in their recommendations. 2. In all of my visits I never felt rushed or pressured. 3. They explained my situation and the options in clear language, and were always patient with me. 4. I have been able to keep up my work life and my personal life despite serious loss of hearing, thanks to them 5. They have daily walk-in clinics, which have been helpful when I have had technical problems with devices. i highly recommend them without any qualification
At first, problem with my name and appt. However, they were so attentive and efficient in finding problem and correcting it. My total experience was wonderful. Got my hearing aides in 2 weeks from first appt. Dr. Whitney was fantastic. Very informative and patient- friendly! I am very happy to hear normally again!
I filled out a form online to request an appointment. I received a call back right away from a fellow who seemed eager to get me taken care of...but I missed the call. I called in today at 2:31 with hopes of setting up an appointment but was told by the receptionist that if I was not already a patient I would probably have a hard time getting an appointment. What am I supposed to say to that? She then said it would depend on insurance and the doctors. Uhmmm....yeah. ? I know that's a possibility, there's always a possibility that we can't get what we want - but I thought her role was to try to help me see if I *could* get an appointment. She then asked why I needed to see someone - note, at this point she hadn't taken any of my information - and then began saying, "Hello? Hello? I can't hear you..." Which just seemed like bs since she didn't want to help me from the beginning - plus I was on a landline, there's nothing wrong with the phone on my end and I doubt Vanderbilt has faulty intake phones. Whatever. Why are people like this? Of course she disconnected and now I guess I'll go somewhere else, or more likely, continue to postpone my health. Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, this is one unprofessional employee among thousands...but when you feel slighted you don't know what to do, and it just sucks to be talked to like that, it really does....so you write a review, cause there's nothing else you can do. Oh well.
I had an appointment today, June 18th which was apparently cancelled. I was called a week or so ago and was told my doctor would be out of office and would I like to see another person in the office. At first I told her I did not like to change but she said since it was only a checkup and not a problem, I could see her and then see my regular doctor from then on. I said ok, I would do that and she said to come in at the same time, 10 am. when I got to the office this morning, I was told I did not have an appointment scheduled. I told her what happen, she just said, I'm sorry but there was nothing she could do.
Dr. Chandra is the best! His skill is second to none. His kindness is comforting. His staff is so sweet! Thanks to Dr. Chandra I am able to breathe through my nose for the first time in many decades!
