VAPSS works closely with Asian communities and minorities in order to promote health awareness and disease prevention for a healthy lifestyle and state of optimal health
VAPSS was founded by University of Houston pharmacy students in 1999. The mission of VAPSS is to encourage pharmacy students to use their pharmaceutical knowledge to provide health education services at community health fairs in the greater Houston area. The Vietnamese American Pharmacist Association of Texas (VAPAT) is the parent chapter. In addition, VAPSS also provides mentorship, partial funding of travel expenses to pharmacy conventions, and social activities including intramural sports. Membership is open to all pharmacy students.
The mission of The Vietnamese American Pharmacy Student Society (VAPSS) is to encourage all pharmacy students to participate and become well-informed in all aspects of the pharmacy profession. This is accomplished by providing opportunities to implement projects and participate in events that focuses on the underserved Asian populations.
It is also the goal of the chapter to encourage the development of all pharmacy students to become knowledgeable, competent, and well-rounded healthcare professionals. VAPSS provides leadership and participatory opportunities that encourages new ideas to uphold the professionalism in pharmacy.
